America Breathes a Collective Sigh of Relief

Silky PonyThe prospect of an Edwards Presidency is now gone for good:

Former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina is dropping out of the race for the Democratic presidential nomination, two sources inside his campaign said Wednesday.

Edwards has told top advisers about his decision. It is expected he will announce it in a speech at 1 p.m. ET Wednesday in New Orleans, Louisiana.

An Edwards aide said the candidate was not getting the media attention he needed to get his message out and win delegates, especially with races coming up in 22 states next Tuesday.

Sayonara, Breck Girl. Spend more time with your hair stylists, and less time perusing the Communist Manifesto for campaign ideas.

Anything else I could say about this news would be fairly redundant. All right-thinking people are jumping for joy over this one.

Update (by Psycheout): Giuliani is also expected to drop out today and, like Sam Brownback, endorse McCain.

  1. You realize that this means there will be more support for Hilary or Obama.

  4. So, Ron Paul has stayed longer in this race then a guy who ACTUALLY had a chance of winning? Damn, the guy’s got guts to stay this long.

  5. Also, the democrats seem to able to better determine who they want as their president than the republicans do. Doesn’t that scare you?

  6. God determined for the Republicans that Brownback will be the write-in candidate separating the true Americans from the RINOs. I am happy to obey the Lord, Trogdor.

  7. Suggested alternate title: Silky Pony Rides into the Sunset.

It looks like both of those “two Americas” Edwards imagined couldn’t stomach the guy.

  11. Maybe we should pray Hiltery and Obomba kill each other in a knife fight on the Senate floor? You should of seen the look on their faces at the State of the Union Address. Chilly. It could happen!

And then John was a zombie.

P.S.: I like how the the frontrunners on both sides are either moderate, or liberal. Gee, think America’s sick of the ultra-conservative right?

Wrong, this is all a fluke because of Fred Thompson and Giuliani playing spoiler. If it wasn’t for them Huckabee would be the clear front runner by now.

They had nothing to do with Huckabee. Only Thompson could have possibly made a dent, except oh wait no one supported him.

Face it, an awful lot of people are sick of having a drooling bible-thumper as the president. There’s nothing wrong with supporting your religion, but Huckabee has the gall to suggest that the Bible should be the only law. That’s crapping on the entire legal system. America should be free, not YOU SHALL ACT ONLY AS THIS BOOK TELLS YOU.

That’s something a Scientologist would want. Are you a Scientologist, BlowJays? WHAT ARE YOUR CRIMES? WHAT ARE YOUR CRIMES? WHAT ARE YOUR CRIMES? WHAT ARE YOUR CRIMES?

  20. Ugh. Now that Edwards is gone, there’s only one nominee left in the race that I can tolerate–for either side. (Ron Paul disgusts me because he clearly didn’t learn the lesson the Berlin Wall should have taught him.)

And if he doesn’t win the primaries, I’m going to stay in my house for the next four years. The only surprise when I exit will be how much closer the nation has come to a tragic fall.

  24. Brownback is still in the race. The dead horse is being dragged toward the finish line by a broken down tractor, will they make it to the finish?
Nope. It was just another one of Sissies senseless little dreams.
I hope you guys come back again for the next election and support the people I don’t again. You’re the best help your opponents could ever hope for. And the worst thing for your candidates.
