Mount Rushmore 2.0Which former Presidents should we remove from Mount Rushmore? None, some, or all? Is the entire endeavour an anti-Christian graven image on par with the Statue of “Liberty?” Discuss.

  3. Clearly Thomas Jefferson should be removed, it should be obvious enough why that man has to go. I think Abraham Lincoln should be removed for GW Bush. Clearly the Bush’s achievements in Iraq have eclipsed what ever Lincoln may have done in the Civil War and mount Rushmore should only be for the top five presidents. Regan should go in were Jefferson was.

Since Iraq tops WWII in importance Bush should replace Roosevelt on the dime.

  4. “graven image applies to religious icons. the presidents were just normal men.”

Good point. The Statue is the equivalent of a religious icon to secularists and rabid immigrationists, which is why it becomes blasphemy and has to go. But isn’t there the potential for Mount Rushmore to attain the same level of wickedness? Perhaps it already has, and I’m just uninformed about this.

I agree with everything you say, BJ, except that I think Reagan has earned the place on the dime. Bush belongs on the penny, or the nickel.

  5. “Clearly the Bush’s achievements in Iraq have eclipsed what ever Lincoln may have done in the Civil War”
Lincoln freed the slaves and basically jump started the worldwide movement for racial equality. Don’t you dare say he hasn’t earned his spot on a mountain.
“Since Iraq tops WWII in importance Bush should replace Roosevelt on the dime.”
No, it doesn’t. WWII was the biggest war the world has ever seen, and the effects of the war are still happening now. Also, the president needs to be dead before he can be put on US currency.
“Clearly Thomas Jefferson should be removed, it should be obvious enough why that man has to go.”
You mean for helping to create this country you claim to love?
“mount Rushmore should only be for the top five presidents.”
There are four heads on that mountain.
“Except for Roosevelt, he could breathe fire, and fly or something.”
    Yea, that was pretty awesome.
We could build another Mount Rushmore on another mountain. put Herbert Hoover, Ulysses Grant, Franklin Pierce, and George W. Bush on it. Call it the Mountain of Shame.

  6. I agree Ulysses S Grant was a terrible man EB; he was the one who forced the Civil War to its terrible conclusion. If it wasn’t for Grant the North would have let the South go and after short while the south would have free the slaves and rejoined the United States.

  7. “Lincoln freed the slaves and basically jump started the worldwide movement for racial equality. Don’t you dare say he hasn’t earned his spot on a mountain.”

Do you have any idea how silly that sounds? What are we talking about here, scaling Mount Everest?

“No, it doesn’t. WWII was the biggest war the world has ever seen, and the effects of the war are still happening now. Also, the president needs to be dead before he can be put on US currency.”

Only because FDR abetted Hitler for so long. If we’d nipped him in the bud like Bush did with Saddam, the war would’ve been much, much smaller.

“There are four heads on that mountain.”

That’s the problem we’re trying to correct, here. Please try to stay focused.

  8. “I agree Ulysses S Grant was a terrible man EB”
Not talking about his actions in war; his administration was incredibly corrupt.
“Only because FDR abetted Hitler for so long.”
Think of the historical context. Germany had been blamed for basically all of WWI. Europe and America viewed the growing military as an understandable reaction to overly harsh punishment. The world was in an unprecedented Depression; nobody wanted to start another war. Hitler signed peace agreements that promised he would stop after recovering Germany’s former land. At that point, there really wasn’t a reason to doubt him. By the time it was apparent Hitler was going to invade Europe, he had amassed his army.
“That’s the problem we’re trying to correct, here.”
No, the issue you proposed is “Which former Presidents should we remove from Mount Rushmore?” You said nothing about adding.
“Do you have any idea how silly that sounds?”
Giving people their God-given freedom is silly?

  9. I thought Reagan was on Rushmore and am shocked it hasn’t been finished yet! Whats with that!! I think they should chip them all off so maybe they could move them closer to the highway so the family and me could just drive the Suburban up and see them close-up. Rushmore is a long drive anyway so just putting those heads some-where close (Kansas?) would be even better. It would be really cool if they decided to blow them up and say Al-Qkaida did it! Then look out Iran!

  10. For something to be a graven image, you´d have to worship it. I can´t see former presidents being worshipped as deities. Revered as having been great men, yes. Worshipped, no. Thus, Rushmore, like Lady Liberty is not a graven image. Except if someone´s really as dumb as worshipping them. But then again, people can be nuts enough to worship anything and removing all that stuff would make the world awefully empty.

The Statue is the equivalent of a religious icon to secularists and rabid immigrationists, which is why it becomes blasphemy and has to go.

Secularists don´t worship stuff they stand for. That´d be somewhat countering what they are. And I fail to grasp what Lady Liberty has to do with immigrants except for the fact that she´s a great first sight for anyone coming in the official way via New York.

Only because FDR abetted Hitler for so long. If we’d nipped him in the bud like Bush did with Saddam, the war would’ve been much, much smaller.

[Bullpoopie]. The US were constantly producing weaponry for themselves and their allies from the outbreak of the war in Europe on, yet they still only were ready for Overlord in 1944. Bringing the US in in 1939 wouldn´t have changed anything, as their fleet would still be bound to getting the Japanese first and the US Army in 1939 was, simply said, a joke. Even the French were better equipped and trained than the US at that time.

@BJ: If you want to smear Northern States Generals, please begin with Mr. Sherman. He at least somewhat deserves it.

And who gave Sherman his second chance after Sherman had his nervous breakdown at the beginning of the war? Grant. Even Sherman admitted he would have been finished if it hadn’t been for Grant.

Grant was a failure at everything he did, including saving the country from Civil War. He personally turned it into the biggest blood bath in American history.

    Grant was the original RHINO.

Whatever. Liberals love to apologize for Roosevelt, but the fact is that he bungled badly domestically AND foreignly. If it weren’t for Churchill saving the day, FDR would be responsible for all of Europe speaking German right now.

“Giving people their God-given freedom is silly?”

No, talking about earning a spot on the mountain. Only God decides who earns what. If it’s up to moral relativism, I can decide I’ve earned immortal fame for remembering to remind my wife to wash the dishes today, or for some other such good deed.

The monuments of pagans and heathens must be expiated in fire and blood. Read the Book of Joshua, friend.

Read the original post. She’s their rallying point, their false idol.

Nonsense. If we’d gone in earlier, we’d have gotten ready earlier. And I wasn’t talking about 1939. I think we should’ve gone after Hitler in 1935, when he passed the Nuremberg Laws. Certainly no later than 1936, when he remilitarized the Rhineland (the equivalent of Saddam deciding to enter the no-fly zones again, something Bush never in a thousand years would’ve permitted to happen).

So what ha you done, sending the few thousand GI´s of that time on a suicide trip? Fact is that the US armed forces before the start of the war were an utter joke and would have lasted as long as a snowball in hell in any ground-based conflict on european soil, especially without any allies. Besides, the Nuremberg Laws? Hell, the US were barely less antisemitic at that time.

He deserves it as the only Presidential Bush that hasn’t had a aircraft carrier named after him. I think everyone can agree that this is a terrible slight against him and he deserves better. All the way on the right, the savior of America, Ronald Regan. I think that needs no explanation for even the most brain damaged liberal. In the middle, The Honorable President Brownback. The position in the middle of the monument will symbolize his role uniting the nation behind his glorious leadership and the transition from the liberal and soft on Islam presidency of GW Bush and the good old days of Regan-nomics. Naturally the Honorable President Brownback’s head will be larger and more magnificent as his future role for America will be so much greater. Just think of the increase tourists dollars.

More people who never paid attention in History class. First, what part of the Constitution did they break? “All men are created equal.” Also, if it weren’t for James Buchanan (the 15th president) downsizing the military, Fort Sumter (where the first battle of the Civil War took place) may not have fallen to the Confederates. The South fired the first shots, they knew what they were getting into.

A far as I know, slavery was illegal in all northern states. Thus anyone walking in those states would be not a slave anymore upon entering them. Thus, the North would have had no legal reason to turn them back. Besides, you´re just advocating slavery, you rascist hick, and that alone destroys any morally superior position your precious south might have ever had in any regard. 35. While the act of Slavery was illegal in the Northern States, the Union did violate the Full Faith and Credit Clause in the Constitution that requires states acknowledge the laws of other states. It the reason you can travel the roads of Alabama with say a Georgia drivers license. Not all states have the same tests or requirements to get a drivers license, but all states must acknowledge them. By not sending fugitive slaves back to the south, the north was violating the constitution. Lincoln further violated the constitution by illegally detaining the leaders of Baltimore and turning the cannons of Fort McHenrey onto the city. Union Soldiers were placed in every third home to prevent the city’s citizen’s from protesting the illegal detentions. He basically tore up Habeas Corpus when he detained 18,000 people with little or no proof. Imagine if Bush detained 18,000 citizens, order the army to level a city if people protested, and places soldiers in the homes of people to maintain control. The only reason Maryland did not join the Confederacy was that Lincoln made it known he was willing to either kill or imprison every member of the state to DC from being surrounded.

“the Union did violate the Full Faith and Credit Clause in the Constitution that requires states acknowledge the laws of other states.”

  37. What I’m trying to say is that most American’s are taught history in the most half-ass lazy way possible thanks to our terrible school system. Everyone is taught that Lincoln saved the country, yet never mention the terrible manner in which he did it. People act like Bush is the first President to walk all over our freedoms and wipe his ass with the Constitution. Well he isn’t. So what, since he ended slavery, “the ends justify the means”? That’s pretty evil if you ask me. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Furthermore, the role of slavery in the conflict has been greatly overstated. Now I know simply writing that makes me sound racist or insensitive at best. The fact of the matter is that the large majority of the land owners in the south did not own slaves as they couldn’t afford them. Most of the soldiers in the conflict did not own slaves. Did these men fight solely for the right to own slaves? No, the fought for the idea that states rights were more important than a strong federal government. Another annoying aspect of our school system is that children are taught a basic overview of the constitution without anything from “The Federalist Papers” or any other documents that show the discussions and arguments that went into the development of our system of government. It seems to be more important for children to spew out memorized facts rather than understanding the underlining principles. But hey like SisyphusLikesPsycheoutsKitty said, I’m just a bigot.

Any by attempting to break away because the federal government wanted to outlaw slavery alltogether, the South acted against the Federal government and the Constitution. Hell, slavery itself is a direct violation of the basic rights of man and thus, by definition, unconstitutional in itself! Besides, as a slave entered the North, he simply wasn´t a slave anymore as slavery was (rightfully) outlawed there. This alone would have made ANY attempt to take him back south against his will nothing else but a criminal offense and a blatant offense against the human rights.

And in the end, it was the South that declared the war. They willingly begun it, and thus they deserved what came out of it. He who lives by the sword, dies by the sword.

  39. “Clearly the Bush’s achievements in Iraq have eclipsed what ever Lincoln may have done in the Civil War and mount Rushmore should only be for the top five presidents. Regan should go in were Jefferson was.

Since Iraq tops WWII in importance Bush should replace Roosevelt on the dime.”

Oh no, BJ’s right. The nigras should’ve stayed beaten slaves, and since B4B hates jews, World War II wasn’t important. I think all of the staff here can agree that Hitler killing off roughly 6 million innocent Jews was a most wonderful thing. After all, they were all apparently descended from the people who betrayed and killed Jesus!

And the blackies didn’t know about God until they were saved by the slavemasters, and given proper God-approved names. We should head back and get more slaves! The Bible says it’s fine!

And yes, Iraq is the most important war, until the next war, when we nuke all of the middle east to get rid of the Jews and Muslims! And then we kill all of the non-whites, because they’re not TRUE CHRISTIANS! The mark of a True Christian is the color of their skin, right guys?

“God reveals His will through revelation and Scripture; those who wish to hear Him will do so.”

I’m still waiting for the next update. It’s a little late in coming. Huh, guess we either need to write a new one(I’m hoping for a Space Pope, myself), or do a whole lot of drugs to see God again!

  40. Dude, I suggest you review the Philadelphia Convention of 1787 in which the Northern and Southern States agreed that slaves only counted as 3/5th of a person. As painful as it is for Americans to acknowledge, our Constitution allowed for slavery. Your theory that the South willingly jumped to war is rather unfair. They (not the average southern but the powerful landowner) faced economic ruin if slavery was made illegal. Also, they started to view the Federal Government’s taxation in the same vein that the American’s viewed the British in the Revolutionary War. To them, the Northern Dominated federal government was conspiring to choke them into ruin. In many ways, the North treated the South the same way the British treated their colonies. Look at the demographics in rail and factory construction. The South had to sell their cotton and other products at lower cost to North and then buy back their finished products. This is one of the major causes of the war and why the Northern Naval Blockades were so crippling. There are whole libraries that are dedicated to the reasons for the Civil War and who started it. While saying it was just about Slavery and the South started it may be the simple answer, that doesn’t make it true.

Which is conveniently unconstitutional in itsself, like any other attempt to legalise slavery or mess with the human rights.

So because their entire nation voted for a differrent kind of politics, this minority simply went the route to seceed instead of facing the situation. I´d have to point out that democracy does not work that way, otherwise, we´d have 2 united states of america since the 2000 elections. Simply put, those people where so desperate to keep their easily made big bucks and earn even more of it that they did not mind going to war for that. Can´t exspect any pity from me for such greedy bastards.

Instead of taking the way you are suppossed to take in a democracy, the south went on to use violence. And they got their just desserts for it. Live by the sword, die by the sword.

  44. Anonymous- I understand and respect your view,I feel I must disagree. Democracy has always historically been threatened by the majority. Furthermore, the US doesn’t have a true democracy. The entire point of the Electoral College is to try to prevent a tyrant being popularly elected. It may seem antiquated now, but lets remember that most tyrants are elected in form or another. I’m not saying that the South didn’t fire first, but there were many elements in the North that were just eager for a war just as much. Numerous attempts to negotiate to prevent the war was sabotaged by both sides. Like every conflict, its never as black and white as it seems. It is never just “Good vs Evil”.

  45. There are a few things that must be pointed out here. First of all, we do not tolerate the Confederate attempts to place their flag on the courthouses while ingnoring the Christian flag. Second, Lincoln started a war in which he had no right to. There was no amendment preventing the secession of the states. Third, Diablo, democracy exists to protect us from the tyranny of the minority, such as the gays, abortionists, and anti-Triclavianists. You are normally very wise, wiser than I am, but I think you missed something, or is it me? Finally, we should have attacked Hitler the moment he was fighting both Britian and the Soviets. Waiting for him to consolidate his territory was foolish, and he was working on a treaty with the pagan Japanese at the time (although he probably would have betrayed them, too, since backstabbing is an essential characteristic of vegetarians).

Can we agree on the fact that both sides had their faults, but ultimately the North was right for abolishing slavery? Constitutional or not, these are people we’re talking about. You can’t cause a panic by yelling “FIRE!” in a crowded building, and claim it’s freedom of speech. The constitution was unconstitutional at the time of the Civil War. The North tried to fix that, but the South didn’t want their cheap labor to go away.

  52. Mr bobcorker I was simply pointing out that democracy is threatened at times by a majority. Look at the G-dless UN. If the heathens had their way, votes would be according to population and the Third Worlders would be in charge. This is the same in the US. I also see your point of view. For example, California is by and large a very conservative state. Yet for a few socialist cities (San Fransisco and LA come to mind) it appears to be a haven for liberal, satanic thought in the media. This is of course not true to anyone who has actually visited the state. Obviously in this situation, the majority of the state is held hostage by the minority. We can all agree that Democracy is beset by enemies from within and without, both large and small. Only with the wisdom of the Honorable Senator Brownback and the rehabilitation camps built by the Department of Homeland Security are we ever going to be free.

The only reason the abolitionists could force threw such and evil act was with immigration. And which idiot was it that said Lincoln started the war? Oh, that was corker, ok, we all know he’s just an insane child. OK, Bobby, it goes like this, 1: The Southern states seperated themselves from the Union.(Dec. 1860) 2:The new Confederate states form their own military under their new president, Jefferson Davis (Feb. 1861) 3: Lincoln is sworn in as the new president of the Union. (March 4th, 1861) 4: (April 12th, 1861) At 4:30 A.M. Confederate soldiers, under the command of Gen.Pierre Beauregard, open fire on Fort Sumter with 50 cannons, the first shots fired in the war, it wasn’t until three days later that Lincoln had an order given to form a militia of 75,000 men to defend the Union. Of course, from there the war expanded and eventually killed over 600,000 men, more than any other war in American history.
But Lincoln didn’t start it, Jefferson Davis did.

I’d be scared, because if you could get on the ballot, ANYONE could get on that ballot. Who’s next, the Imperial Wizard of the KKK? Maybe Fred Phelps?

    Oh, and AYE!

  97. Great post! However, Brother BJ (I wonder what THAT stands for?) you wrote:

“Clearly Thomas Jefferson should be removed, it should be obvious enough why that man has to go. I think Abraham Lincoln should be removed for GW Bush.”

But you didn’t take it far enough. Our Glorious President George Warmonger Bush should be up there but…with THAT group? Half of them were Godless heathens anyway. I think the image of Our Glorious President George Wanker Bush should be proudly displayed beside past presidents who thought and worshipped as he did. I’d knock off Washington (according to contemporaries, he never knelt in prayer and often left before church services were over) and in his place I’d put Franklin Pierce (he LOVED the bible-sanctioned slavery!). Instead of Jefferson (a “Deist”) I’d put up Warren G. Harding ( a God-fearing man who often said he had no idea what he was doing as president!). Instead of Lincoln (who tried to save the Union), Richard Nixon (who tried to destroy it). And take off Teddy Roosevelt (he was competent!) and put up Our Glorious President George WTF!? Bush (for reasons “obvious enough.”).

Since this is an administration that hands out presidential medals of freedom to incompetents, THAT’S a Mount Rushmore that makes sense!

Hey! Brother Bob Corker, thanks again for upholding the right to own slaves! Can I buy you?

You must obey your mistress, FadedRose. She has commanded you to whine, and you shall do so without complaint.

“Hey! Brother Bob Corker, thanks again for upholding the right to own slaves! Can I buy you?”

Sorry, I’m probably richer than you. You are welcome to buy fast food employees, however.

With an attitude like yours, I highly doubt that. What’s your annual income?

Funny, you didn’t deny being a racist who thinks the Sun revolves around the Earth(NEWS FLASH: EVEN THE CATHOLICS THINK THE EARTH REVOLVES AROUND THE SUN).

Also, I don’t raid children’s games. I don’t raid anything except MY PANTS.

Aside from lying about his income, I believe he’s lying about what he does for a living too. No one making a six figure income would spend all their free time telling lies on the internet, they would be out on their boats and travelling to the Bahamas and doing all kinds of fun things. He spends his time lying about everything and trying to think up new ways to kill people he doesn’t agree with. He’s just a sadistic little bigot with no real income to speak of, and no life either.

  110. OK Schumerites, you need to realize that I have a much better knowledge of my income than you do. I have to keep a fair amount of money so we have a plan in case one of my businesses fail, and I would never expose my family to the naked skippers and whores that inhabit the Bahamas. Considering the Bible quotes you all so aptly apply (Judge not, lest ye be judged), I’d think you morons would understand them better. The fact that you are all stupid atheists, however, shoots down any hopes I may have had for you.

“Holy Moley! $120,000!! Really!? That’ll make you a really rich slave! When I buy you, be sure to bring the money along!”

Your slave raping president, Thomas Jefferson, would have no doubt kidnapped people to be sold into slavery. Ask his descendents for one, please, before you ask me for one.

I’d have less of a problem with your insults if they ever made sense. I don’t recall anyone on this site ever claiming to receive any sort of welfare.

    Comment by Elephant Bones — January 27, 2008 @ 3:35 am | Reply

  115. Hey, I strongly support the welfare system, it serves a vital purpose in this country. True, there are many people who abuse it, but there are even more who need it. I could quit working today and qualify for social security easily but I prefer to work, and the fact that some of my taxes go to helping other people on welfare survive makes me feel good, not bad.

Now, of course, the bushites want to take some of those taxes from me and give rebates to people that don’t need them while they cut funds to those who do need it, and why? In Bush’s own words he said he wanted the recievers of those checks to run right out and spend them (then of course he gets much of it back in sales taxes) to stimulate the economy. That can only work if you give it to the people who need it. Those recieving it wont change their spending habits over 600 bucks, hell most of them wont even notice, they already have more than enough money to blow an extra 600 if they want to.

Don’t be dissing my mom, L. She was a great stay at home mom. Not lazy or selfish, and always worked hard.
