Liberal Talk Radio Doesn’t Work

Liberal Talk RadioIf you build it, they will ignore you. Yes, friends, another liberal talk radio network has tanked. Greenstone Media, a liberal feminist talk radio network backed by Gloria Steinem and Jane Fonda, has folded. And rightly so. Error America has already gone bankrupt and The HORN (Head On Radio Network) and RadioLeft can only be heard on their fledgling internet streams. Nova M Radio, founded by the same charlatans who started Air America, is heard on at least one station.

America simply isn’t interested in blame America first far left liberal Scream Radio. $5,000,000 and a year later Greenstone Media has given up the ghost and gone out with a whimper.

The “feminist” radio company whose founders include Jane Fonda and Gloria Steinem failed to attract an audience and it signed off the air for good on Friday.

When the talk-radio network, called GreenStone, officially launched in September 2006, NewsMax reported that it was a “new left-wing radio network that plans to appeal to women listeners and counter the dominance of conservative talk radio.”

Apparently all three listeners had fallen asleep and were unavailable for comment. Rip Van Winkle had this to say: “Zzzzzzz.”

But “Greenstone Media’s brand of tepid liberalism didn’t appeal to women,” Carrie Lukas, author of “The Politically Incorrect Guide to Women, Sex and Feminism,” writes in the New York Post.

Besides there are already some great female voices on the air.

Lukas pointed to Laura Ingraham, who is heard on 340 stations and has an audience of more than 5 million, and Dr. Laura Schlessinger, with some 7.75 million listeners.

And there’s always Melaine Morgan. And the media is already saturated with left-wing viewpoints: NPR, PBS, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC. We don’t need more of the same.

Good riddance.

NOTE: If you’re interested in reading about Talk Radio, there’s no better coverage than that over at The Radio Equalizer.

  4. Notice you have tagged it “Error America,” not bad, but my name for it has always been “Err America,” as in to err, better as it is the same number of syllables as Air America. Important to point out, though, that “err” rhymes with “sir,” and is incorrectly pronounced by many as rhyming with “bear.” But maybe you knew that.

“Err America.” I think it’s a better tag.

    Peace out.

  5. As a co founder of The H.O.R.N. I don’t care to be on terrestrial radio. We look to the future. The internet. We are creating a new model. Our listenership is growing daily carried on multiple streams including Itunes. How many radio networks have you founded from nothing?

And none of our hosts are Oxycodone snorting blowhards.

We don’t do Talk radio. It’s “Conversation Radio” we have an open format that is condusive to getting past talking points. Rush would never do that. Once the “megga dittos” are spoken, the caller is dumped. There is no back and forth.

As Ian stated. “You may learn something”
