On Attacking the Family

Leon Wolf, official blogger for the Sam Brownback ’08 campaign, has a brilliant essay up over at The Daily Brownbacker: Speaking Clearly. I recommend you read the whole thing. Here’s the opening paragraph:

Over the past several months that I’ve been working for the Brownback campaign, I’ve run into several conservatives who don’t “get” Senator Brownback’s emphasis on protecting and strengthening families as one of his top priorities. “Surely,” they ask, “Isn’t such a notion a little quaint?” I can only assume from the question that many conservatives have become desensitized to how serious the assault on the family has become. Then an article like this comes along, when a liberal speaks clearly about what they think and believe, and it becomes clear that Senator Brownback isn’t engaging in hyperbole at all – the family really is under direct attack.

Leon goes on to point to some recent films which are being blasted simply because they don’t encourage abortion as the solution to unplanned pregnancies. Re-read that. It’s not a typo.

One of the many issues Sam Brownback cares about deeply is the family. He is also unquestionably “pro-life, whole life.” This country needs a moral revival, and Senator Brownback is the perfect candidate to make this happen. He will use the bully pulpit to remind America about some things it seems to have forgotten. See Mr. Compassionate Conservative for more background about the Senator, for those of you still making up your minds.

Leon the wordsmith has shone a spotlight on an important issue and it reminds us all that families need to be protected and cherished in this most cynical of times. This is clearly something Senator Brownback has never lost sight of. And he never will. You can count on it.

  1. The one thing Brownback and I have in common is that we both think abortion is wrong. His campaign slogan is one of “Pro Life”. Now just mull those two words over for a minute. Many posters on this blog (Marcia P., Gaines-Crockett, etc.) suggest the best solution to Liberals or others who you feel are evil is to just kill them. Now, does anybody here see the hypocrisy of a Pro-Life supporter wanting to kill people? Brownback says Pro Life, meaning ALL life. If you can’t respect adult life on the same level as that of an embryo or fetus, then you cannot truly support Brownback’s policy.

  2. Of course none of the commenters are running for President are they? Sam Brownback is probably a better person than all of us.

I am glad, however, that at least the pro-life, whole life message has sunk in and appeals to you. Watch the latest Brownback on YouTube video and follow those last two links to a couple of blog posts I think sum up the man quite well.

    Sam Brownback: “Pro-Life, Whole Life”
    Sam Brownback: Mr. Compassionate Conservative

It seems that people who criticize Senator Brownback the most (not necessarily you, Adam) seem to know very little about this genuine and thoughtful human being.

  3. Thank God we can now put in the past the era when Hollywood churned out movies like “Citizen Ruth”.

Some days I wake to find there is hope for America.

Thank you Mr Wolf, and thank you Senator Brownback.
