Chertoff: Terrorism Risk High This Summer

I woke up in a cold sweat after having some rather disturbing nightmares. There’s something in the air, but I can’t put my finger on it. But apparently this could likely be a dangerous and cruel summer indeed. I guess my uneasy sleep has something to do what Secretary Chertoff said yesterday:

We could easily be attacked. The intent to attack us remains as strong as it was on September 10, 2001.

I believe we’re entering a period this summer of increased risk. We’ve seen a lot more public statements from Al Qaeda. There are a lot of reasons to speculate about that but one reason that occurs to me is that they’re feeling more comfortable and raising expectations. In the last August, and in prior summers, we’ve had attacks against the West, which suggests that summer seems to be appealing to them. I think we do see increased activity in South Asia, so we do worry about whether they are rebuilding their capabilities. We’ve struck at them and degraded them, but they rebuild. All these things have given me kind of a gut feeling that we are in a period of increased vulnerability.

There’s much that Michael Chertoff knows that he cannot make public due to national security. But these warnings seem very deliberate to me. We are close to another attack of the magnitude of 9/11 and the Bush Administration is doing everything in its power to prevent it. But the President is warning us through our Homeland Security chief that the attempt could be made at any time.

Perhaps after the attack is foiled we will be given the specifics. The alternative is unthinkable: we’ll know if the attack succeeds. I’m very thankful that I’m nowhere near any likely targets. I hope, dear readers, that you are too. Because the big one could be coming. We are being warned (in a way that won’t cause panic). But you can be sure that our intelligence services have a lot of flashing lights going off right now.

Predictably, left-wing kook icon and sportscaster Keith Olbermann has some stupid anti-American conspiracy theory about how this warning is somehow politically timed. I won’t bother to go into the details of his hateful and idiotic rant. You can read about it for yourself. It’s amazing what BDS does to liberal wackos. Well, here’s a lowlight of Keith at his most deranged and unfunny:

Olbermann concluded: “Yeah, the ‘gut feeling’ has been described as ‘breaking news.’ Actually, a ‘gut feeling’ would be closer to ‘breaking wind.'”

Whatever happens, may G-d continue to bless and protect these United States. I pray that the perfect record President Bush has had in protecting America from terrorist attacks continues to hold. With Sam Brownback as President that record would certainly be extended. Of that there can be little doubt.

One thing’s for sure. It’s going to be impossible to get back to sleep.

Update: Never underestimate the power of prayer. Please pray for G-d to preserve and protect the USA from the coming terrorist threat.

  1. Thank you for the warning, Psycheout! All decent Americans should be wary this summer. Liberals, of course, have little to fear from their treacherous allies the Islamists.

  2. Well, I for one have Jesus Christ and Little David (a Glock 36 Slimline my husband gave me for Mother’s Day) on my side for protection. Any Muslim terrorist that trys to get near me will meet their “Allah” a whole lot sooner than they planned if you know what I mean.

I refuse to live in fear and have my summer plans ruined just because some Camel Jockey hates Jesus and America.

Another great article, Psycheout. You are a fine Patriot and a true American.

  3. When were you not at an elevated risk? The fact is that the USA´s policies in foreign countries will have to be changed in a major way or they will create more and more terrorists on a daily basis.

Otherwise, that warning has quite a comforting timing for the reps, seeing that it´ll likely cause more fear for that terror-boogyman. Fear is the only thing left the republicans have to win any elections right now.

“Whatever happens, may G-d continue to bless and protect these United States. I pray that the perfect record President Bush has had in protecting America from terrorist attacks continues to hold. With Sam Brownback as President that record would certainly be extended. Of that there can be little doubt.”

Has he ever blessed and protected the country? Seems like he´s not the best guardian, then…
And Baby Bush having a perfect record? Yeah, right. There´s just one stain, it´s called 9/11.

“Thank you for the warning, Psycheout! All decent Americans should be wary this summer. Liberals, of course, have little to fear from their treacherous allies the Islamists.”

Except that even if they were allied to the liberals (which is of course total bovine excrement, they hate the liberals just as much as the republicans) how would they be supposed to differentiate during their attacks?

“Well, I for one have Jesus Christ and Little David (a Glock 36 Slimline my husband gave me for Mother’s Day) on my side for protection. Any Muslim terrorist that trys to get near me will meet their “Allah” a whole lot sooner than they planned if you know what I mean.”

He´ll either have an automatic rifle, putting you at a major disadvantage in every firefight or he´ll blow himself up, leaving you no time to react. (But at least you´re buying european quality, try H&K next time, the USP .45 is a beauty.)

“I refuse to live in fear and have my summer plans ruined just because some Camel Jockey hates Jesus and America.”

If you need a weapon, you´re afraid for sure…

And try to resist responding to everything in the thread. Pick one (or two points if you must) and take your best shot. I don’t know about everybody else, but I prefer comments to be a little sharper and to the point, not wandering and meandering all over the place until…zzzzzzz.]

  4. Well Dear hearts, If this attack happens, there goes that
warm fuzzy feeling of being safer since 9/11 with Bush
incharge. Maybe some one should put on a sign board, and
walk the streets. THE END IS NEAR! THE END IS NEAR! OR
THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING! Maybe this is what
Bush has been waiting for to declare MARSHAL LAW. How would you really feel about that? Sort of like Nazi Germany
    huh?

  5. You guys are the bee’s knees! I hail from Kansas, and you do a pretty spot-on right wing wacko!

Kudos. You play tight to the belt, which I admire(and expect from good satire).

However, some times you tip your hat a little to far:

“Little David (a Glock 36 Slimline my husband gave me for Mother’s Day)”

Comedy gold, Jerry. Comedy Gold! Do you have any other nicknames for small things that shoot stuff?

  6. See, normally I’d start bitching about gun control at this point, but I’ve stumbled on some interesting facts.

Sure the US has lots of guns, and has lots of gun-related deaths. However, Canada has MORE guns per capita, and significantly less gun-related deaths per capita. Same follows true with Australia, Britain, Germany, Italy, and other European countries. So what does that mean? Well, in my opinion gun control isn’t the issue (not completely, anyway), but it’s the idiots pulling the triggers that make all the difference… kinda like Little David over there.
