Mitt Romney Flips for Taxes!

Part 2 of the Six Mitt-Flops in Six Weeks (try saying that 10 times real fast) is up over at The Daily Brownbacker. And it’s about taxes. As you will see, Mitt really flips for taxes, that’s why he’d be a flop as President. See also Part 1, on Second Amendment rights (guns).

Go read the whole thing. I’ll skip to the conclusion:

“Mitt Romney’s record on taxes suggests that he values political expediency over protecting taxpayers,” said John Rankin, Iowa communications director of Brownback for President. “Romney’s appeasement of liberals like Rep. Barney Frank in Massachusetts is embarrassing to our party and shows that he lacks the will to fight tax-hiking Democrats in Washington.”

Rankin added: “Senator Brownback proudly voted for the Bush tax cuts and fought for them in Congress. Unlike Mitt Romney, Senator Brownback has always been a friend of the taxpayer and has a proven record of fighting tax-and-spend Democrats in Washington, not appeasing them like Romney has.”

If you like an incomprehensible approach to taxes and more flip-flops than are in John F. Kerry’s sandal collection, support Flipper [Willard] Mitt Romney. But if you prefer a sane approach to taxes and fiscal policy, as well as respect for life and family values, the choice couldn’t be any clearer. Support Senator Brownback for the GOP nomination. There’s no other rational choice.

  1. Brownback’s still in the race? I guess some guys don’t know when they’re done.

  2. This is one fine hit piece… one just walks away “terrified” of Romney with no clue why they feel that way. How about reminding us next time what more precisely you’re trying to get at.

    P.S. Brownback who?

  4. You must have a skill for taking things out of context.

  5. Say all you want about Mitt’s flip-flopping. He’ll be way ahead of Brownback in every way possible by the time February ’08 rolls around.

  6. That’s great, Braden. You may very well be right. He’s already light years ahead in the flip-flop and weird religion categories (magical underwear). He’s also way outspent Senator Brownback with his dirty money. That makes him a great conservative candidate, right?

    You must be so proud.

  7. And still he´s higher up than Sam. WOW.

  8. Brownback people attacking Romney? I like Sam, I do think that people would be better off attacking liberals verses distorting Romney’s record. That is something that I admire about Rudy.

I support Romney because of the fact the he is the most fiscally responsible person running. Very few candidates running have even handled a budget much less fix a $3B deficit without raising taxes. He brought the Olympics out of the red and fixed several broken companies. I’m for Romney because he is the most competent at managing my tax dollar.

Tell me what Sam has to offer regarding budgets. What is his plan to close the deficit? How is he going to reign in congressional spending? What has he done in the past to save bankrupt organizations or companies?

Again, Sam’s folks should focus on what he has to offer verses distorting other candidate’s records.

  9. cwpete, I’m pretty sure I’ve seen your comments over at race 4 2008. Welcome, and thanks for your input.

The kook Democrat party candidate isn’t going to play beanbag when the left finally chooses their socialist champion. If a Republican candidate can’t take a little barefist fighting from its own side, how in the world are they going to survive the MSM gauntlet and attacks coming from the other side?

What does not kill the emerging GOP candidate, makes them stronger. Better to get everything out in the open before the real mudslinging begins. You just know this is going to be a nasty campaign. I guarantee it.

But this is all just my opinion. Thanks for stopping by!

  11. Yep, Mitt’s a flip-flopper alright. Along with Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Al Gore, John Kerry, Bill Clinton, Jesse Jackson, etc. At least Romney adMITTed to it. Wow that was just a little too cheesy, I apologize. I like Brownback, don’t get me wrong. But he’s just not going to win this race. Ron Paul will win it before Brownback does. So what if Romney’s a Mormon? Brownback’s a Catholic. They haven’t been short of weird ideas (i.e. selling salvation), have they? And Mitt’s “dirty” money? Come on, let’s not be that facetious.
