True Grit

Our Commander-in-Chief has refused to submit documents relating to the administrative proceedings of his Administration to the Islamists in Congress.

President Bush, moving toward a constitutional showdown with Congress, asserted executive privilege Thursday and rejected lawmakers’ demands for documents that could shed light on the firings of federal prosecutors.

Bush’s attorney told Congress the White House would not turn over subpoenaed documents for former presidential counsel Harriet Miers and former political director Sara Taylor.

The leftist reaction was all too foreseeable:

Senate Judiciary Chairman Patrick Leahy accused the administration of shifting “into Nixonian stonewalling” and revealing “disdain for our system of checks and balances.”

Leaky Leahy is upset that Bush won’t let him divulge our nation’s secrets to Al Qaeda. The man couldn’t be trusted with keeping a secret if his life depended on it, yet Bush is supposed to hand over classified documents detailing the Administration’s decisionmaking processes just because Leahy waves an unConstitutional subpoena in front of a few moonbat journalists and cameramen. Why Leahy is walking about a free man is beyond me; the man belongs in Guantanamo for his shameful track record on the subject of national security:

Senator Pat Leahy was annoyed with the Reagan administration’s war on terrorism in the 1980s. At the time he was vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee.

“Leaky Leahy,” allegedly threatened to sabotage classified strategies he didn’t like.

Leahy inadvertently’ disclosed a top-secret communications intercept during a 1985 television interview.

“The intercept ?made possible the capture of the Arab terrorists who had hijacked the cruise ship Achille Lauro and murdered American citizens. ?

“The reports cost the life of at least one Egyptian operative involved in the operation.”

In July 1987, it was reported that Leahy leaked secret information about a 1986 covert operation planned by the Reagan administration to topple Libya’s Moammar Gaddhafi.

U.S. intelligence officials said Leahy, along with the Republican panel chairman, sent a written threat to expose the operation directly to then-CIA Director William Casey.

Weeks later, news of the secret plan turned up in the Washington Post, causing it to be aborted.

A year later, as the Senate was preparing to hold hearings on the Iran-Contra scandal, Leahy had to resign his Intelligence Committee post after he was caught leaking secret information to a reporter.
He should have been indicted, tried and sentenced.

Leahy’s Iran-Contra leak was considered to be one of the most serious breaches of secrecy in the Intelligence Committee’s 10-year history.

But ultimately, this isn’t about some deranged maple syrup-chugging traitor from a state that wants to secede from America anyway. No, this Constitutional showdown is far more about the courage and tenacity shown by our President in defending the rights of the Executive to make decisions in wartime without bowing and scraping before the whims of media harlots and demilitarizing lily-livered treefrog poltroons.

America today owes its courageous President, George Bush, a debt it can never hope to repay. The man is a lion of freedom, an eagle of liberty, and a dove of Jesus. Schoolchildren will remember his defense of American liberty a thousand years hence. It will be spoken of in the same hushed tones of awe and reverence normally used when discussing the ordeals of Cato the Younger, or of St. Stephen, if not Our Lord Himself.

I thank you, Mr. President. And my children’s children thank you, as well.

  1. If President Bush or V.P. Cheney budge one iota the Demmocraps will fabricate even more lies. Any thing those people can do to discredit this country and our leaders they will do. Do they not realize how vulnerable this makes us to terrorists? Lord only knows that now is the time to support the President, not tear him down.

I often wonder what happened in their lives to make them hate America so much. Surely it is a spiritual poisoning resulting from the evil things they support, believe, and condone. I pray that the Bush administration will stay strong and that the Lord protects them from those who wish to harm them.

  2. Also, do you now realize that Checks and Balances is what keeps our government from being overrun by any one group of corrupt idiot extremists? (You people would qualify.) Yea, there’s this document…actually a set. The Constitution was written a LONG time ago and it set up our government in a certain way. It offered checks and balances and gave us those three lovely branches of government. No group is above or beyond the other. The president actually doesn’t have that much power…he’s really just a pretty figurehead. Oh, and it’s Congress that declares war–not him(that wasn’t for you in particular–someone said that in another blog here somewhere). Anyways, the point is, when one branch decides to do something that doesn’t seem right to another, they have a right to check it! They have that right, period. It doesn’t matter if you agree with it or not for the situation. It keeps major government corruption at a minimum. The Federal government is suppose to know what’s going on. I don’t think you realize the different duties and powers that each branch of government is responsible for. Maybe? Also, do you think that Democrats want to hand our country over to terrorists? Did I read that right? Is that the underline here? Can I make that conclusion? While you may not agree with them, Democrats are jsut another political party. They want to form government in their views, and their views have nothing to do with handing America over to any terrorists. They may not agree in general with the war, but they are not going to screw it up like that. Again, I ask you people to list the views of Liberal thought in the areas of Government duty and economics.
And which state wishes to leave the United States? Which one do you think is that stupid? The state and federal government work off each other. To an extent the state is dependent on the federal governmetn to get by. They need the funds, they need the rules, they need the big boys. No state is ignorant enough to make that choice.
I beleive that Bush has been a halfway decent president. I think that he could’ve presented himself better. But his ideas were/are in the right place. …I guess he wasn’t really voted in for his speech making/giving skills. Iraq was a hard choice, and I’m glad he stuck it out. But this and that is a whole other bit, so onward we go….
Personally, I do not know much of this Leahy person, but if he’s so bad why is he still there? People vote those guys in…over and over and over…. It makes me wonder about your statements up there. If he was so corrupt and caused so many problems on such a scale you would think that people would vote him out…. Hmmm, time to go play elsewhere I do think.

  3. I think that fishing expeditions such as this are as bad and people using a rake to attack and capture people like me on their way to putting us in bags, taking us for a ride and then slitting open our bellies and eating our guts out.

THat means I think the congress should sit on its hands and SHUT UP!

  4. Bah, this whole story is nonsense. Bush, Cheney, et al should just turn over the damn documents. What are they worried about–being implicated in something illegal?

He’s the PRESIDENT. By definition, everything he does is legal, always looking out for the well-being of us citizens. The problem with the “Nixon” analogies is that Nixon was too much of a pansy–he actually resigned when he was implicated in a “scandal.” Thankfully, President Bush shall perservere, promoting his agenda until the end of his term, after which President Brownback will finish restoring out country to its true greatness.

    All hail President Brownback.

  5. I am shocked, La Mona, that you would even bring up the checks and balances system. One would think that after your hero, William Jefferson Clinton, was caught red-handed being “checked” by Monica and then “balanced” in front of the entire country, that a checks and balcances system would be the last thing on the pea-sized brain of a Liberal.

George Bush, Dick Cheney, and the rest of the administration obviously have nothing to hide, but as a matter of principle should stand firm in not giving the Democrats a single thing that they WILL distort and use against them.

Personally, I wouldn’t trust a single Liberal as far as I could thrown them.

    Sam Brownback in 2008 Indeed!

  6. I love talking to you Crockett. You make me laugh. You still think I’m Liberal? My, you do have a hard head. Do you read well? And do you believe my brain to be “pea-sized?” Again, I must laugh. No matter the intelligence of a person, everyone has a brain that is about the same size. It’s all about what’s in it…the potential if you will. Understand?
When have I EVER said that Clinton was my hero? NEVER. And he isn’t. He is a sick immmoral man that thinks he can play the saxophone. Also, the “checked” and “balanced” you refer to is not what I refered to. Now, take a minute to absorb some knowledge of government and politics and you will see something very different. I am sorry you feel as if you must twist my words to make a claim that is valid in your mind. Perhaps if you stop for a minute and think it over you can come up with something a bit less childish…That’s sad considering you’re prolly twice my “physical” age. While you’re at it, politics is corrupt on BOTH sides. Sorry. Democrats are not some big conspiracy, they are a group of people. Just like you. The president must work with all of them–liberal conservative and everything inbetween. Oh, and Democrats are the majority at the moment in government [Congress].
If you don’t agree with the liberal school of thought then you don’t have to…but you should be aware that they are part of government and government must work together if they plan to get anything done. What do you think of FDR? Do you like FDIC (the thing that insures you up to 100,000 dollars at banks)? Do you like the government’s idea of social security and welfare? (I don’t speak of what it has become…I mean the idea behind it. I realize that the system has been twisted a wee bit because certain groups think they can mess with it. And those groups are not of the political sort mind you.) I must ask. I’m curious.

  7. “annoyed with the Reagan administration’s war on terrorism in the 1980s.”

I believe you meant “war OF terrorism.” Oh, wait. It’s okay when do it, right?

The fact is these safeguards were built into our constitution to protect us from EXACTLY what’s happening. But I guess you’d consider the Founding Fathers “loony lefties,” right?

I hope you get the right-wing military dictatorship you’re hoping for! I just hope it’s not in America.

  8. It’s time for Congress to go about the business of passing laws and leave the investigating to the Justice Department. I thank the Lord Bush has straightened out the Supreme Court so whatever Congress tries to subpoena will be thwarted.

  12. It´s Bush´s good right to hold back the documents. But one has to ask: What is he hiding?

“Leaky Leahy is upset that Bush won’t let him divulge our nation’s secrets to Al Qaeda.”

What´s secret inside those docs? How they fire people? Wow, not that is going to destroy the USA if it comes out.

“But ultimately, this isn’t about some deranged maple syrup-chugging traitor from a state that wants to secede from America anyway.”

Which state wants to secede? Or are pulling stories out again?

“America today owes its courageous President, George Bush, a debt it can never hope to repay. ”

Yeah, about 8794521 million dollars. At least when I wrote this comment…
Oh, and the lives of hundreds of american soldiers, of course.

“Schoolchildren will remember his defense of American liberty a thousand years hence.”

Yeah, the will remember Iraq as a failure like Vietnam.

“I am shocked, La Mona, that you would even bring up the checks and balances system. One would think that after your hero, William Jefferson Clinton, was caught red-handed being “checked” by Monica and then “balanced” in front of the entire country, that a checks and balcances system would be the last thing on the pea-sized brain of a Liberal.

You, mam, should definitely consult an encyclopedia about the meaning of checks and balances. And no, it has nothing to do anything Clinton has done outside of his work.

“He’s the PRESIDENT. By definition, everything he does is legal, always looking out for the well-being of us citizens.”

Wrong. He´s obliged to the law like anybody else. That´s what makes him differrent to people like Josef Stalin, Mao Tsetung or Kim Yong Il.

  13. Here–I’m keeping it short….LEARN GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS!!! Oh, and some economics too. It helps in a discussion that (is intended to) revolves around a political deal! Maybe you wouldn’t look so stupid. (Sisyphus, Crockett, Marcia,…I think it’s obvious who I address.) Just a thought. Education is a good thing. Would you like a vocabulary list? …like I’ve given ten times before….

  16. Mrs. T.D. Gaines-Crockett: you go to church, you kiss that cross, you think you will be saved at any cost? You have your own reality, called Christianity. So, you spend your life just kissing ass, a trait that’s grown as your time on this planet has passed. You think the world will end today, so you praise the lord, it’s all you ever seem to say. The Dead are free to roam… lonely children of the night, there’s seven ways to go… each leading to the burning hole that Satan controls!!

Jesus “saves” – ha! listen to you pray. You think you’ll see the pearly gates, when death takes you away Mrs. T.D. Gaines-Crockett? Far away, deep below to the pits of Hades. For all respect you cannot lust, in an invisible man you place your trust. Indirect dependency. Eternal attempt at amnesty. He will decide who lives and dies. Depopulate Satan’s rise. You will be an accessory. No need to pray, the gates of pearl have turned to gold. It seems you’ve lost your way. No words of praise, no promised land to take you to… there is no other way.

Yet you claim “God” speaks to you Mrs. T.D. Gaines-Crockett, your restless mouth full of this that gains you popularity. You care not for the old that suffer, when empty pockets cry from hunger. Penniless from their generosity, sharing their money to quench your greed. Searching for the answer to their prayers, they cry their last wish of need. You say find salvation in the lord, tell me liar, how do you know.

Send your donations, contribute to the cause. Luxuries. Your righteous reward? Praise the lord, praise god, is what you wish to believe: Remember, there is no heaven without a hell… and in your mind’s eye could you truely believe, that by giving you can save your soul, could you be so naive?? You think he heals the sick, or even raises the dead; Religious blackmail is a deceit of trust, that death will come and all will be lost… Jesus knows your soul can not be saved you harlot of Satan, telling lies…

Can you hear the serpents call Mrs. T.D. Gaines-Crockett, look deep in those deceiving eyes. Ignore the writing on the wall, you should read between the lies. When doubt subsides his honesty an inquiry, is it blasphemy? Impure the soul, that’s made no suffer, no sermons left to hide or cover, an empty promise, lie unfulfilled, to steal a dream or get it killed… they claim your trip to heaven is nearby, you may believe it Mrs. T.D. Gaines-Crockett, but Satan wouldn’t lie.

Tell the truth, Mrs. T.D. Gaines-Crockett, save your soul.
