Act Now to Defend Religious Liberty!

Congress wants to make it illegal to criticize sodomy!

A bill now before Congress (H.R. 1592 / S. 1105) would criminalize negative comments concerning homosexuality, such as calling the practice of homosexuality a sin from the pulpit, a hate crime punishable by a hefty fine and time in prison. This dangerous legislation would take away our freedom of speech and our freedom of religion.

If this bill became law, our cherished freedoms and way of life would perish overnight. Sodomy would become the law of the land, and Christianity would revert to an underground religion. Please sign the petition, if you value civil liberty. Sign the petition, or religious and political freedom will be the first casualties of a power-hungry Democrat bureaucratic behemoth.

  1. How dare Congress presume to strip Christians of their God-given right to hate homosexuals, people of color, women, etc.! This is an outrage and clearly illustrative of America’s moral decline. Anyone who supports this bill should be subjected to enhanced interrogation techniques and interned without recourse at Gitmo.

  3. Sodomy is sinful. Sodomites should not have special rights. We should not teach our children that sodomy is an acceptable lifestyle.

There, I said it. Now I guess I’ll just sit here and wait for the UN to come arrest me.

Oh, wait, you’re only talking about YOUR religion…

  5. That’s like saying: you have the right of free speech, as long as you say what we want you to say.

  6. Ah, hate crime legislation. Nothing quite passing laws to make certain types of thought illegal.

It’s already illegal to punch a man in the face, why exactly does it need to be “more illegal” if you do it because he’s black/gay/transexual/neocon/whatever?

  7. Maybe the ACLU will fight this bill and protect the rights of true Americans for a change.

  8. “This dangerous legislation would take away our freedom of speech and our freedom of religion.”

How would it take away your freedom of religion? Or is spewing hate a fundamental part of christianity?

“If this bill became law, our cherished freedoms and way of life would perish overnight. Sodomy would become the law of the land, and Christianity would revert to an underground religion.”

Yeah right…. Will that be before or after the martians land and take over the planet? Exaggering is fun.

“Anyone who supports this bill should be subjected to enhanced interrogation techniques and interned without recourse at Gitmo.”

Funny. If it´s passed, that means that it´s more likely for anyone NOT voting for it becoming a guest of Guantanamo. BEcause then the republicans don´t run the country anymore.

  9. Since every GOOD Christian is obligated by his faith to persecute sinners like gays at every turn this is another attempt by the Democrats to outlaw Christianity. Frankly the mindless bigotry of the left disgusts me. Is it too much for me to ask I be left alone when practicing my faith?

Funny: millions of Muslims, moderate Christians, Buddhists, Jews, and if you substitute the word “faith” by “lifestyle”, atheists and homosexuals, ask themselves this question every day…

Hopefully. I’m not holding my breath on that one, though.

Opposing sodomy is an integral part of Christianity, treefrog.

This is a Christian country. We are America. Most of those other people are not. They can move to other countries to be free, but this one is ours.

    1. I´m not liberal. I don´t believe into things like hate crime bills, affirmative action and all that bullshit and I think that communism by itself is a flawed concept that can´t spawn any prolonged success without serious reformations.
    2. I´m just abbreviating Sisi´s name. No pun intended.

  19. “Exactly, and this law will take away mine.”

Not really. If you go a non-christian on the nerves today, he might just charge you for harassment or something like that. So basically this law is ineffectual as you can be sued one way or the other.

PS: “Freedom of Religion” does not include christianity only.

  20. Have any of you even read the bill?

“Defines ‘hate crime’ as a violent act causing death or bodily injury because of the actual or perceived race, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or disability of the victim.”

It says nothing about speech whatsoever.

Not really moonbat??? As a Christian I am commanded by God, at the risk of my very soul if I don‘t obey, to kill homosexuals, pagans, atheists and heretics. If this this law is passed I either have to chose between damnation or breaking the law. Nice catch 22 the liberals have made for us. What the hell did we do to you guys anyway to be treated like this?

  25. I once knew a girl who wanted me to enter from the rear. I told her that wasn’t God’s plan. I walk proudly through the front door. Of course, I had to give her some leeway and spend the time re-educating her because she was clearly influenced by her hairdresser.
If we legalize hairdresser talk who knows what will happen to marriage and the millions of heterosexual men in America.
Accepting this type of legislation is like accepting a gateway drug. Sure it’s just a little taste today but after a year or so you’re locked up in a rehab center with Lindsey Lohan and all you wanna do is get another look at her hairdresser.
This type of legislation is the slippery slope they always talk about.
    Caveat emptor.

    Indeed.

He was born Jewish, but He came to show us that Judaism wasn’t the complete story.

Judaism isn’t the correct religion, but at least it’s on the right track. Islam goes too far, veering into heresy. Christianity is just right. The other faiths are beyond hope.

You tell that the guys that wrote the constitution. They had another opinion.

Praying fervently for another hurricane, tornado, or plague of killer bees to swoop down upon San Francisco and all of the other homosexual cities!

Come quick, Jesus! The sodomites are dividing your churches!

  33. Interpreted @ “BJ Tabor – can you give me a Biblical citation for this? It doesn’t seem the sort of thing that Jesus said.”

Easy peasy. Look at God’s Law, which Jesus has *not* changed

    Gays
Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

    Pagans
Exodus 22:18 Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.

    Atheists, Heratics and Pagans again.
    Deuteronomy 13:13 Certain men, the children of Belial, are gone out from among you, and have withdrawn the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which ye have not known;
    13:14 Then shalt thou enquire, and make search, and ask diligently; and, behold, if it be truth, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought among you;
13:15 Thou shalt surely smite the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is therein, and the cattle thereof, with the edge of the sword.
13:16 And thou shalt gather all the spoil of it into the midst of the street thereof, and shalt burn with fire the city, and all the spoil thereof every whit, for the LORD thy God: and it shall be an heap for ever; it shall not be built again.

It’s clear enough. God wants them dead.

I don’t see how this, recent, quote from Jesus fits with your, old, out of context quote from the OT.

  39. Check out the truth behind this bill:

    http://www.snopes.com/politics/sexuality/hatecrime.asp

Hopefully, in 2008, we’ll be able to FINALLY elect a Christian or two to congress. In 8 or 10 years, maybe we’ll see a Christian on the Supreme Court, and some folks say that by 2050, we may even have a Christian PRESIDENT! Maybe then we’ll finally have enough representation in our government to stop this senseless persecution we, as Christ-loving Americans, have been enduring.

I look forward to the day when the Muslims, homosexuals, vegetarians and unwed mothers that currently run our Congress are sent fleeing from Capitol Hill by Christ’s Army, of which I am a loyal soldier.
