In your opinion, what has President Bush’s greatest achievement been?

For me, the answer is easy. He beat terrorism at home and abroad. But some might say his deft handling of the economy, or his commitment to moral values, or his restoration of decency to public life. There are many possible answers to this one. Have at it. Or talk about whatever.

  1. He has restored the power of the Presidency which Congress and the press had been tearing away at since Nixon’s time.

  2. “He has restored the power of the Presidency which Congress and the press had been tearing away at since Nixon’s time.”

He’s also restored integrity to the Supreme Court. The man’s reformed all three branches of government, but try and get a Democrat to concede that!

  3. Beyond utterly defeating the terrorists, revitalizing our public school system and sterling work on the economy Mr Bush has also restored the public trust in the word of the President. Something Klinton utterly undermined but Bush has satisfactory corrected. Bush has done a good job but I think he is only the prelude to the main event; President Sam Brownback.

  4. Good point, BJ. President Brownback will be better even than President Bush. President Bush merely lays the groundwork for the awe-inspiring edifice President Brownback will construct.

  5. I hate to inject a sour note here, but to be frank I am not as happy as I should be. We have been not bombing Iran, and not bombing Iran, and not bombing Iran. For years on end! How much longer can we keep it up? Even some responsible Democrats (Joe Lieberman, for example) want to bomb Iran. So I can’t understand why President Bush hasn’t done it. If he doesn’t do it soon, it will be an eternal black mark on an otherwise glorious presidency.

Oh, and Syria. We should bomb them, too.

Yes DRS, there is no good Republican out there who does not regret that Iranians are not dying by the scours at the hands the Airforce. But we know were the fault for this lies; the left. Those libratards were so jealous of Mr Bush’s success in Iraq they stole Congress away from us. Yes stole Congress! That’s what they did last November. It shows you how much the moonbats hate America they would do this.

  7. Bush’s hands are tied by Congress. It’s their fault, not his.

President Brownback will inherit a Republican Congressional majority. After that, I think you will soon see freedom ringing throughout Iran and Syria.

  8. President George W. Bush’s accomplishments are numerous and varied. In no particular order:

    1. Liberating Iraq.
    2. Finding bin Laden and killing him.
    3. Killing Saddam.
    4. Killing scores of Iraqis (and utilizing enhanced interrogation techniques against them).
    5. Outlawing abortion.
    6. Destroying the evil concept of habeas corpus.
    7. Criminalizing homosexuality.
    8. Criminalizing ALL immigrants.
    9. His brilliant handling of the housing market.
    10. Victory over the enemies of Christ at home and abroad.

I can only dream of President Brownback’s even more manly approach to ruling the United States of America. You know that he will be the type of ruler who will never permit history, facts, experience, the Constitution, etc. to get in the way of his decision-making. His guiding principles will be dictated by God.

I am inspired after reading St Legalize’s comment. May I suggest you start of a poll what President’s face on Mt. Rushmore should be replaced by President Bush’s face?

I guess this is also brings up which one Sam will replace.

  18. 1. Kicking ass in Vietnam to defend our freedom.
    2. His legendary and groundbreaking cheerleading skills at Yale.
    3. Earning every cent and job opportunity through his own hard work and dedication and definitely not because of his dad.
    4. Holding the modern day record of 152 executions while Governor of Texas.
    5. Poetic and passionate oratory skills that has not graced the political world since Winston Churchill.

And his greatest achievement to come:
    6. Appointing Sen. Brownback to succeed him as president of our theocracy.

  19. Bush’s greatest achievement? Boy, that’s a tough one. Here’s my ranking of the three greatest achivements for which Bush will go down in history:

    (1) Iraq

    (2) Iraq

    (3) Iraq

  23. Let’s face it, with Iraq GW Bush is the greatest liberator of men in human history. If Regan was the Great Communicator, Lincoln the Great Emancipator Bush is the Great Liberator. That’s why the Left hates Bush; the left hates freedom and Bush gave the most freedom out ever.

  24. “the left hates freedom and Bush gave the most freedom out ever.”

Yeah! After all Roosevelt and Truman only gave a couple of hundred million people their freedom back…

While Europe and Japan are now ravaged by sectarian violence, crime and poverty, Iraq is now a peaceful democracy!

What about all those innocent Iranians? What about the students who risk their lives protesting against Ahmadinejad? What about the moderate Imams and MPs who risk their freedom to vote to impeach Ahmadinejad?

Are ‘good Republican[s]’ regretting the fact that the above ‘are not dying by the [sic] scours at the hands of the Airforce’?

Truman also didn’t face the domestic opposition to his policies that Bush faces.

They made the choice to live next door to terrorists, they have to live with the consequences. As sad as it is, when you lay down with dogs, you get fleas.

  27. Not all of them did – it’s hard, just packing up and leaving your country. In fact, a lot of them tried to get the terrorists out, as is said above. I wouldn’t say that its really displaying agape to nuke someone just because they happen to be of a specific country, and for no other reason. Somewhat genocidal, in fact.

  32. Personally, I think it was his deft use of his political capital to insure that the Amnesty Bill wasn’t passed. Yesterday, I had four Mexicans mowing my lawn…four! And all these kids are getting out of school, dying for summer jobs. My son couldn’t even find a lawn job for the summer, so I had to send him off to camp in Maine. What a waste.

  33. His greatest achievement? Hmm, I can´t decide.

Bringing the deficit to new records?
Getting a lot of people killed on 9/11 because the intelligence f***éd up?
Massive tax cuts for rich people?
Making the USA as unpopular as it never was in the world?
Starting that disaster in Iraq that has become another recreation of Vietnam?
    Or fixing the elections? Twice.

    That´s quite a difficult decision to make…

“President Brownback will inherit a Republican Congressional majority. After that, I think you will soon see freedom ringing throughout Iran and Syria.”

It´s always so funny when they start dreaming…

“2. Finding bin Laden and killing him.”

Sorry, St. Legalize, but Osama is still up and kicking.

“They made the choice to live next door to terrorists, they have to live with the consequences. As sad as it is, when you lay down with dogs, you get fleas.”

They did not chose to be born in Iran.

    In the end:

For managing not to get impeached while nearly ruining the country.

More name-calling hyperbole from the “reality-based” community.

“The people who believe in the ideals stated in this blog are sick.”

Whatever. You’re the President that invented nukes in the first place. Did you expect us not to use them?

“Bush is the greatest fisherman president this country has ever had. His forte is his knowledge in all things regarding bait. He truelly is a master baiter.”

I didn’t know that. That’s pretty impressive, though!

The question is: Had they any choice? I sure think tha tthe Iranian government would not let them. And otherwise: Could they have a reason to stay? Like trying to reform the country?
