Profiles in Courage: Kirk Cameron

This is a powerful story of a young celebrity finding God:

At the height of his Hollywood success, former “Growing Pains” sitcom star Kirk Cameron started worrying about something his money couldn’t buy: salvation.
He had more than just legions of fanatic fans. He also had stalkers and kidnapping threats, and was sometimes driven to the set in a bulletproof car. It got him thinking about his own mortality. He had it all, but still felt empty.

“I was raised not going to church. We never prayed — didn’t know how. Are you supposed to close your eyes, keep them open? Look up? Look down? Get on my knees? What do I do?”

Kirk Cameron is an inspiration to us all. The video shows he’s not afraid to walk up to gangsters in the ghetto and talk to them about God and salvation. Nor should we be. I am proud to share a nation with this courageous, devoted man.

  1. Thanks for this story. Kirk Cameron really is an inspiration. Even after being raised by uncaring, atheist parents and spending his teen years in the loathsome pit of Hollyweird, he still found the Lord. It’s not too late for you moonbats who post here to do the same.

  2. It would be great if he would campaign for Senator Brownback. A little star power could go a long way. Also, it might get young people even more excited about the Senator.

I have no problem with Mr. Cameron campaigning for Brownback. I don’t think you’ll find many young people, though, who will remember who Kirk Cameron is.

  4. I’m sure someone as young and hip as Kirk Cameron, a real Hollyweird star, could be a great asset to Sen. Brownback! I mean, he has a real connection with the youth of today. And the courage, oh my, the courage he has shown in standing up to the atheistic sodomites in California. It’s like when Martin Luther stood up to the godless Papists at the Diet of Worms! Fortunately for us, of course, the Papists aren’t so godless anymore, as shown by the great Sen. Brownback’s decision to join Opus Dei. But I digress, I think we need a hip, young person like Kirk Cameron to join the Brownback campaign and prove that Christians are Cool.

    Exactly!

    “Who’s Kirk Cameron ?”

A great man. When he was younger, he starred in the 80s sitcom “Growing Pains.” After a period of sinful hedonism, he brought himself to Jesus at last. He’s an inspiration to us all.

It was his career’s Deathbed Repentance.

  12. Sisyphus, your question about the vote candles should be directed to Jack Freemont. He mentioned them in a thread a few days ago. If you find out any information about them from him, please let me know. They sound really cool.

  14. Kirk Cameron: the dumbest jerk!

I love this video where he and the australian idiot he is with
take a monkey out to lunch. Their argument:
look at the dumb monkey, he can’t use utensils properly,
he chews the tablecloth, how could he possibly our ancestor!!

In the previous part of the video the guy calls an airline to
find out if they will accept their “relative” monkey as a passenger….
When the request is denied this is used as an argument against revolution.
    WTF!

Then they proceed to tell us that they know we are all going to hell.
    Priceless!!!

  16. Wikipedia says this guy converted around 20 years ago, when he was a teenager and his career was over. Why is this news now?

I suppose moonbats think their grandpa SHOULD’VE gotten to ride on the plane with the real humans. Beyond absurd.

You know, in evolutionary terms, you great-grandpa was a rat and your great-great-grandpa was a fish. Your great-great-great-grandpa was a cold sore. Try bringing those on the plane with you, next time.

Makes perfect sense to me. The monkey can’t even hold a fork, yet treefrogs want to claim it’s their grandpa!

    “BROWNBACK/CAMERON ‘08!”

That’s a pretty good ticket, there. But I’m still holding my breath for Newt Gingrich, personally.

“Wikipedia says this guy converted around 20 years ago, when he was a teenager and his career was over. Why is this news now?”

He’s always an inspiration to all of us. It’s always newsworthy.
