Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

My posting will be a little light this weekend.  I have plans for travel, picnicking, praying, and honoring the memory of family members who are veterans.  I hope you all have a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend, and be sure to tell all your friends and family about what a wonderful candidate Sam Brownback is!

I will leave you, on this most American of weekends, with Senator Brownback’s statements on the New Homestead Act:

Over 140 years ago, President Abraham Lincoln signed into law the Homestead Act, landmark legislation that helped populate rural areas in the Great Plains.

I’m proud to be an original cosponsor of a bill that presents the same opportunity today for those willing to make a 5-year commitment to live and work in rural America. The New Homestead Act would help pay back college loans, provide a $5,000 tax credit for first-time home buyers and pump much needed capital into our Main Streets in rural communities across America.

This country has faced chronic out-migration before. In the 1970s, metropolitan urban cores across America were suffering from out-migration similar to what we are seeing today in rural America. Tax incentives were put in place to enhance economic development and it revitalized our nation’s urban cores. It worked back in the 1970s for the urban core and it can work again today for rural America. We are simply looking to do for rural America what we have already done for the urban core of America.

Growing up on a farm near Parker, Kansas, I saw firsthand that communities in rural America exhibit the values and work ethic we all appreciate as Americans. We must act now to preserve the ‘small town’ lifestyles that have been so vital to our country’s success.

A good plan to ponder this weekend.

  1. 140 years ago the government thoughtfully provided federal troops along with the Homestead Act, to evict the Native-Amerofascists who were living on our land at the time. Is Senator Brownback going to do the same thing again today?

  5. Thats rich, a liberal who thinks he knows what free markets are.

Here’s a definition of “free market” from the notoriously liberal wikipedia.org:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_market

For balance I include a definition from conservapedia.com:

    http://www.conservapedia.com/Free_Market

The two definitions are pretty similar, except that the wikipedia definition is, ahem, more thorough, better written, and better sourced.

Now, Mr. Ruppert, how can you say that liberals don’t know what free markets are? Hmmm?

  6. This is a horrendous idea and Brownback needs to be warned before it is too late.

On its face I realize this sounds good, move a bunch of wealthy college educated people to the country. This will increase the population (and voting power) of the Conservative AMERICAN Heartland against the Godless Late Drinking Liberal City Dwellers. What a great way to advance Westboro Baptist Church Values.

But all this will accomplish is moving perverts and socialists out into pure untouched Christian America.

Don’t believe me? Take a trip to Vermont. What appears at first to be Real America, farmhouses, forests, churches, has been taken over by San Fransisco Sodomites and Drug Crazed Hippies. Everywhere you go in Vermont you will find “men” holding hands and filthy people wearing tye died t-shirts. I talked to an old timer while I was there who explained to me that states like Vermont and New Hampshire used to be as American and Sane as Kansas or Alabama but back in the 1960s hordes of college graduates started moving in and the Americans were drowned out by the looney left. Before being over run with the college “educated” these states were known for being solidly Republican. Think the North East is an isolated incident? Think again. This has pretty much already happened in the Pacific Northwestern states of Oregon and Washington former bastions of Traditional Values. Hell, Ronald Reagan was elected Governor of California in two landslide victories. But the tide of college “educated” (read hippies and homos) smashed California to pieces.

The truth is our Universities should more rightly be called Homosexual Communist Indoctrination Centers. Don’t turn Kansas into Vermont. Brownback should enact legislation that keeps the college “educated” far away from our rural communities. We will prosper only after the Sodom and Gommorahs of America’s big cities colloapse. In fact, let me propose that we pass a Constitutional Amendment making it illegal for any state to recieve more federal tax money than its residents pay out. It burns me up knowing that my taxes are going to New York and California where they are wasted on going to Welfare Checks for Marijuana Addicts and College Post Modern “Education”. After this amendment gets passed I give New York, Chicago, San Fransico, Oklahoma City, etc 5 years, tops.

  17. Good point “honkey magoo”. Freedom comes from JESUS, not the lie-beral activist judges. Anything the LORD doesn’t support isn’t a freedom, no matter what the law of the land says. It is not unpatriotic to try and change the constitution to match what the bible teaches. In fact, nothing could be more patriotic. We need more freedom and less free-dumb. Something to think about this Memorial Day weekend.

As far as Mr. Brownback’s plan, I say anything that takes money from the limousine lie-berals and gives it to real patriotic Americans is truly doing the LORD’s work.

A tax credit hardly constitutes a handout. It stimulates free enterprise; it doesn’t simply throw money at a problem.

The handout in college money comes from Pell grants and the like; low-interest loans encourage individual initiative, while discouraging the acqiurement of useless degrees like philosophy and liberal arts. A two-for-one benefit if ever there was one!

You guys are fucked, lol. You know all that hard earned money your red states are paying out? It turns out THEY’RE SPENDING MORE THAN THEY PAY! The top ten states that receive the most spending and pay the least, big suprise, they’re REDS STATES! But that’s not where the hypocrisy stops! Guess who’s giving the red states all of this free money? I bet it’s nine of the top ten states that pay the most and spend the least, and what color are they? THEY’RE BLUE. Pay for your own stop signs, asshole, and the next time you say things, you might want to make sure they’re FACTS.

A “useless” degree like philosophy? Lets look at definitions:

Philosophy is the discipline concerned with the questions of how one should live (ethics); what sorts of things exist and what are their essential natures (metaphysics); what counts as genuine knowledge (epistemology); and what are the correct principles of reasoning (logic).

Gee, looks like the Lord taught us a lot of “useless philosophy”, huh?

Your hypocrisy is incredible. You’re up in arms about a professor at ISU being denied tenure? Guess what, turns out ISU is one of the few Universities that will allow its professors of survey courses to even DISCUSS the arguments concerning God, and most of the class time is spent DEFENDING THEIST ARGUMENTS.

Well, once we start moving Blue staters to Red states, and converting them to conservative opinions, our revenue will increase. In the long term, demographics are most definitely on our side. By the time this amendment came into being, we’d be way ahead.

Connecticut was different back then. The Northeast only really descended into sin in the last 10 years or so. Back in the ’60s and ’70s, it was still less depraved than, say, California. Anyway, even California was home to Nixon and Reagan, so nowhere was completely lost.

HOLY COW, IT’S A APHORISM! How does someone who (I assume) reads metaphor after metaphor in the Bible NOT understand symbolic speech?

Let me spell it out for you. When I say “Do you have to salt your truth so heavily that it doesn’t even quench the slightest thirst?”, what I’m REALLY saying is that you are disguising the truth so much that it loses meaning.

Oh Yeah, the Northeast was so different then. They weren’t hippies, or dirty liberals. All those people at Woodstock were fine upstanding conservatives!

  43. Colin C. @ 42:

There are no metaphors in the Bible. Every word in the Bible is literally true. Metaphors are for moral relativists and Communists. There are some aphorisms, however.

    As for Woodstock:

1). Much like the ‘Moon landing,’ it seems very unlikely to have happened. Something doesn’t smell right, and I’m not just talking about the hippies. I have always suspected that it was produced in a TV studio with collaboration from socialist elements at the State Department and with the complicity of the notorious warlock and Darwinist ‘Jimi’ Hendrix and the confessed Satanist and miserable whiner Joan Baez. I am still looking for the smoking gun, though.

2). If it did happen—and I’m trying to keep an open mind—they were never more than half a million strong. Half a million hippies could have been easily routed and slain by the far larger remainder of the population, and they probably would have been if Woodstock had actually happened, which to my mind is one of the best arguments against its historicity.
