Hooray for Lebanon!

The Lebanese, having learned their lesson from the thrashing Israel gave them last year, have now joined up with the good guys and are taking on terrorism:

Artillery and machine gun fire echoed around a crowded Palestinian refugee camp Tuesday as the Lebanese government ordered the army to finish off the Fatah Islam militants holed up inside the camp in the country’s north.

The fighting — which resumed for a third straight day after a brief nighttime lull — reflected the government’s determination to pursue the Islamic militants who staged attacks on Lebanese troops on Sunday and Monday, killing 29 soldiers. Some 20 militants have also been killed, as well as an undetermined number of civilians.

The Cabinet late Monday authorized the army to step up its campaign and “end the terrorist phenomenon that is alien to the values and nature of the Palestinian people,” Information Minister Ghazi Aridi said.

Lebanon is only famous for two things- cedar trees, and terrorism. With the latter prong of that removed, the Iraq War-influenced Cedar Revolution can finally take root. (Not that I expect any of you moonbats to give Bush credit when things go right. No, I think history will exonerate him, but the present will continue to chastise him.)

  1. Give Bush credit for igniting the region? For invading Iraq, with no connection to 911, on a pack of lies? Get real. And Hezbollah beat the IDF back and held their own quite well. The military might of the IDF couldn’t defeat a guerilla army.

As for what Lebanon is famous for, try some wider reading aside from your superficial Fox news equivalent. The ancient Lebanese or Phoenicians are credited with the alphabet, and much more. Geopolitical and cultural analysis is clearly not your forte.

  2. The IDF wiped out over 25% of the best men Hezbollah could field.

If the invasion was such a disaster, why has Hezbollah been so quiet lately?

BTW, the Phoenicians are only famous for getting conquered by every passerby for 1600 years straight. The Carthaginians, too. You might want to ease off on the chest-thumping, there.

  3. What does this have with your tag “Defending America”? I wonder when you will stop nosing around the World, when the day comes the World will be a safer place.

  4. “What does this have with your tag “Defending America”?”

Those terrorists would’ve come for us next. Every attack on America has started somewhere in the Middle East. Have you ever looked at a newspaper?

“I wonder when you will stop nosing around the World, when the day comes the World will be a safer place.”

I think you just answered your own question- when the world is a safer, freer place, we won’t have to “nose around” in it.

  5. Lebanon should help Israel wipe out Hezbollah next. Hezbollah are awful, awful people. Anyone who exterminates them is welcome in my home.

Israel should also take Syria down a peg or two. Lebanon could help them, it could attack at the same time and distract Syria while Israel moves on Damascus for the kill. That’s what my husband says.

  6. Sisyphus, shame on you! Lebanon is also famous as the home of Ba’al, famed deity of the Old Testament to whom many of the True Faith sacrificed their children. As a representative of His Worshipfulness and occasional vessel of his spirit, I say to you Yessogoth Yggglrutth Vlogrrratahhh!

That falls under terrorism, I think.

If you are a Baalist, you are the enemy of all goodness in the world. That includes America. Luckily, your numbers are few.

  8. “Israel should also take Syria down a peg or two. Lebanon could help them…”

Do you really think Lebanon is going to ally with the same country that leveled their infrastructure and killed 1000 of its civilians last summer, to fight their fellow Arabs?

You should always listen to your husband Marcia. The bible requires it. Especially with respect to that certain act he requested you perform on him last night.

Embrace Jesus any manner you wish Marcia and don’t forget to vote Brownback.
