Conservatives Classier than Kooks

A poignant post on Red State demonstrates how Republicans are, generally speaking, more compassionate than many of their Democrat counterparts. On hearing the news that Elizabeth Edwards has cancer, krempasky writes:

No longer do we (or should we see) Mr. Edwards as a politician from the other side, but instead as a husband helping his wife fight for her survival.

Our prayers are with the Edwards family for a speedy and complete recovery.

If the candidate in question were, say, Giuliani or McCain or Huckabee, would Daily Kos publish a similar message of solidarity? I very seriously doubt it.

Republicans often show more concern and compassion for others. The American people notice that, and it resonates with their generous natures. That’s why Brownback’s going to beat whatever Democrat runs against him next year.

Our hearts also go out to John and Elizabeth Edwards in this, their time of tribulation.

Update (by Psycheout): Blogs for Bush is equally classy. As for Kos, he spells classy with a “K.”

Update 2 (by Psycheout): Over at Protein Wisdom, The Sanity Inspector also expresses best wishes to the family of John Edwards.

  1. Klassy Kos Kooks: sounds almost like an acronym for something. Hmm…

  3. I think you should reframe your title. It’s kind of confusing…You know with the whole X is classier then X. I mean Really a Kook is a conservative, so it just doesn’t work.

  4. Your comment is a little confusing, Dav. Don’t you want to wish Elizabeth Edwards well? Or simply go on a jumbled rant?

I certainly am praying for the Edwards family. I can’t imagine how difficult this time must be for them. Cancer is such a frightening disease. I found this news very distressing, having had an uncle who died of leukemia.

  5. I wouldn’t describe that as a rant, more like snark. Mixing pity with a snide remark for his supporters is a little off, dontcha think?

Did you even blog for you got this job? Do you know any blog terminology?

  6. Sorry, dav, I was reading it literally. X as in “X” and not X as a variable or placeholder. It didn’t make any sense since “X” was not in the title. So now I get your “snark,” man. I’m down with that. I read you, dude.

But here at B4B, “kooks” are defined as far-left wackjobs. I could start an encyclopedia of terms page, but I think most people get it without a roadmap.

So, no well wishes for the Edwards family?

  7. This must be very hard on the Edwards’. I hope treatment helps. From what I’ve heard it’s incurable, but treatable.

What’s with this dav guy? Can’t he just say something about Elizabeth Edwards and be respectful about it? It’s funny how he proves Sisyphus’ point by coming in here and being a total jerk. I guess he doesn’t understand irony.

I guess this proves kooks really can’t be classy.

  8. This just proves that, generally speaking, conservatives are better people than liberals. I hope Dav keeps posting, he proves that point further every time.
