Global Warming: Myth, or Legend?

Filed under: Science — Sisyphus @ 5:08 am

By this point, it should be common knowledge that alarmist misinterpretations of reality are the bailiwick of leftists. In this particular day and age, the prime example of their tendency to run, screaming, from their own shadows is the so-called data supporting “global warming.” Reasonable minds can differ on the evidence, but never say that in the presence of a liberal unless you have earplugs- or a strong desire to envelope yourself in the hot air of leftist rhetoric- handy. (UPDATE: David Harsanyi makes the same point I do. Proof that great minds really do think alike.)

What these Chicken Littles fail to do is consider the possibility that the environmentalists financing these sky-is-falling reports might have their own agenda to advance:

The world has been warming ever since the last Ice Age, but it is not rapidly warming in ways that threaten our existence, nor warming in a way that requires the industrialized nations to drastically cut back on their use of energy to avoid the many scenarios of catastrophe the Greens have been peddling since the 1980s.

Global warming is a classic scare campaign initiated by the Greens after a previous effort in the 1970s to influence public policy by declaring a coming Ice Age failed to generate any response. What we are seeing now is yet another worldwide coordinated campaign by the Greens to rescue the global warming theory from the junk heap to which it should be consigned.

In early June, the National Resources Defense Council, one of the large Green organizations, declared that, “Global warming is fast becoming the number one environmental problem of our time.”

Given the traditional liberal dishonesty on every other issue, why should we trust them on one of this much importance? Why believe either them, or the words of scientists whose meal ticket is stamped by the Eco-Fascist anti-human whackjobs of the Left? Why can’t we have a real discussion on where this “evidence” is really coming from?

  1. You’re really good at the science-related posts, Sisyphus. Well done. Great food for thought. I’m impressed!

  2. Thank you, Psycheout.

You’ll notice that no one has rebutted me yet. I find that telling.

  3. The enviro-crazies can’t seem to make up their mind whether the earth is cooling (like in the 1970s) or warming up (like today). Isn’t there a move to call it “global climate change”? I guess that just proves they can’t make up their mind.

The limosine liberals like al-Gore want us to live in mud huts and commute by horse and buggy while they live in luxury in their energy-sucking mansions. More likely they just want the rest of us to die.

The feeling is mutual. God is great, libs I hate.

  4. I think a major mistake on the part of the scientists has been the pushing of this global warming agenda. I do think that we produce too much pollution, and I strongly support any initiatives to reduce our dependency on foreign energy sources (mostly because our traditional sources of energy are just too unstable and can’t be trusted to not jack up prices on a whim), but all of this Chicken-Little-style panicking just strikes me as a touch…hysterical.

  5. Myth. No wait. Legend! No. Pass!

Seriously, nice work. I couldn’t agree more.

Lyssie, how can something be a touch hysterical? That’s like a little pregnant.

    Amen, JOE. Welcome aboard.

  7. A real in depth analysis, based on the premise that liberals are all dishonest and scientists are all wacko. It is obviously supported by those who would rather delegate their thinking process, as doing it themselves takes time and effort.
