Blogs 4 Brownback

By Request…

The font on our previous format was a little bit difficult to read, as per some of our commenters. Hopefully this is better. Please let me know if it’s not.

P.S. Consider this an open thread. What do you plan on doing with your extra hour of sunshine?

  1. Is it true that Brownback likes to Bareback(tm)?

  2. I’m not sure what horseback riding has to do with the election, Karl.

[EDIT: Oh, I see, you were probably referring to how Sam might spend his extra hour of daylight. But I suspect it will be spent campaigning and fighting for the renewal of the American family.]

  3. I intend to use my extra hour of sunshine to campaign for Brownback. I intend to use each and every hour of sunshine available to me for the same purpose, although obviously the Sabbath is intended as a day of sojourn and prayer. And there are the unfortunate economic necessities of toil which preclude the campaign-based usage of several hours a day. Nevertheless, the overwhelming majority of my spare hours of daylight shall be spent unremittingly in the service of Senator Sam Brownback’s election campaign.

I urge you all to assign yourselves a similar schedule, from now until November 2008. It’s the least we can do for our forefathers, and for America.

  4. This is the third format I’ve seen here. Make up your minds!

Actually it’s kind of cool to have different presentations of the website. It keeps things fresh.

But Lyssie, is the the best you could choose from? I’m afraid that giant pen at the top of the page is going to put my eye out!

At least it’s a red pen.

  5. I know. The pen is kind of creepy. I’m looking for a nice picture of Brownback that I can use to replace it, but that works with the format. I only picked this format because it was one of the few I could find that didn’t have microscopic font sizes for the comments section. It’s a bit tricky to find a picture that won’t get stuck behind the wording, due to the large page title that somebody chose (ahem). I’m sure as time goes on and the BEST candidate starts getting the media coverage he deserves, there will be a wealth of pics to choose from.

  6. Lyssie, I picked the “Contempt” theme because the colors were similiar to the original one we used (“Pool”) but had some advantages, such as showing the poster’s name, eliminating the stupid cartoon-style ballon on block quotes and allowing line breaks in comments.

    Like this one.

The small font biz may have been a slight problem (although most browsers allow you to bump the font size).

This one looks fine for now though, unless something better comes along. I may experiment with other themes in the dead of night sometime but won’t switch unless there’s a compelling reason to do so.

A theme of the week? I don’t think so. 😀

I agree that the pen is a little frightening but I don’t think we can customize the header picture on all themes. This may be one of them. (Not unless we get custom CSS and even then it might not work.)

  7. As to the “title” of the blog, I’d use that as the catchphrase and use “Blogs 4 Brownback” or “Blogs for Brownback” as the official title.

I suggested this to Sisyphus but didn’t want to press it since I’m new here and didn’t set up the blog.

Maybe we should convene an offline voting session.
