Sam Brownback Straw Poll Result

Although the MSM made Ann Coulter the big news (anything to change the subject), something more important came out of CPAC:

Brownback Finishes Top 3 in CPAC Straw Poll
Brownback top choice among “traditional values” Republicans

ALEXANDRIA, VA- U.S. Senator Sam Brownback placed top 3 in the CPAC presidential straw poll tonight, a key test of strength in the 2008 presidential race.

Among “traditional values” Republicans, Brownback was the overwhelming favorite.

In other words, among true conservatives, Brownback wins hands down.

Brownback was pleased with the results of the straw poll. “As we continue to build momentum toward victory, I am encouraged by the outcome of tonight’s poll,” Brownback said. “I would like to thank everyone who came from across America to Washington DC to demonstrate their support.”

Senator Brownback didn’t gloat or take credit for his strong showing with the conservative wing of the Republican Party. He is gracious and humble, immediately thanking those who are backing the most exciting candidacy since Ronald Wilson Reagan announced.

Brownback continued, “I will continue to lead on conservative values to renew our culture and rebuild our families. We must rebuild families, protect marriage, cut taxes, enact a flat tax, secure our borders and win the fight against militant Islamist extremists.

Re-read that. Isn’t that the perfect encapsulation of what conservatives want in the next President? You bet!

Make no mistake about it: Sam Brownback is the only candidate who makes sense if the goal is to bring conservative values to a nation that is thirsting for moral leadership.

Note that while RINO Rudy came in first (34%), McCain was dead last (20%). Brownback’s credibility and position will only improve as his message gets out. I predict Rudy has nowhere to go but down and out.

UPDATE: According to the official Brownback blog, Romney was in first place (21%) and MSM favorite McCain was still dead last (12%). Among social conservatives Brownback was at the top with 29% of the vote. Go Sam!

  1. I’ll be surprised if Sam isn’t in the #2 place within the next few months. He should be #1 when it really counts. Let us know if there’s a tracking poll for the GOP candidates. I’m not that great with computers so I don’t know where to look. Thanks!

  5. When Brownback doesn’t win in Ames, is he going to blame the Catholics again like he did after the CPAC poll?
