Mitt Romney is putting himself before the good of America and the Republican party. It’s time for him to do the right thing: he needs to drop out and endorse Mike Huckabee. Mittens and Mike are splitting the evangelical and conservative vote.
But while many (if not most) people have a visceral dislike for the phony chameleonic opportunist that is Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee comes across as genuine and appeals to everyday folks. There’s no doubt about it. Even lefties grudgingly admire the charismatic Huck. Many even fear him, since he’s so darn likable.
By selfishly staying in the race and splitting the conservative vote, Mitt Romney is ensuring that the only bus that will be in service come November will be John McCain’s “straight talk express.” That will surely shift both the Republican and Democrat parties to the left for the foreseeable future. Conservatism will be in tatters for a decade or more.
If the Republican party is to survive intact, Mitt Romney must swallow his pride and overcome his gigantic ego. He must drop out if we are to have any chance at all of keeping Clinton or Obamanation out of the White House. If Willard is unable to make that sacrifice (due to a complete lack of principles), his supporters should seriously consider taking that big step themselves.

If Huck seals the deal, then we can lobby him to put Sam Brownback on the ticket, if he doesn’t do so naturally on his own. A Huckabee/Brownback unity ticket would crush the far left kook ticket, hands down. Good always triumphs over evil in the end.
