Profiles in Courage: Clarence Thomas

While some prominent black people prefer to engage in criminal behavior like crack cocaine-smoking sodomy, others show themselves to be true American patriots. A prime example of this is Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. Ever since his contentious 1991 confirmation hearing, he’s had to endure the slings and arrows of outraged racist moonbat media people. Case in point:

Two years and 144 cases have passed since Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas last spoke up at oral arguments. It is a period of unbroken silence that contrasts with the rest of the court’s unceasing inquiries.

Hardly a case goes by, including two appeals that were argued Monday, without eight justices peppering lawyers with questions. Oral arguments offer justices the chance to resolve nagging doubts about a case, probe its weaknesses or make a point to their colleagues.

Left, right and center, the justices ask and they ask and they ask. Sometimes they debate each other, leaving the lawyer at the podium helpless to jump in. “I think you’re handling these questions very well,” Chief Justice John Roberts quipped to a lawyer recently in the midst of one such exchange.

Leaning back in his leather chair, often looking up at the ceiling, Thomas takes it all in, but he never joins in.

Monday was no different. Thomas said nothing.

He occasionally leans to his right to share a comment or a laugh with Justice Stephen Breyer. Less often, he talks to Justice Anthony Kennedy, to his immediate left.

Thomas, characteristically, declined to comment for this article. But in the course of his publicity tour for his autobiography, “My Grandfather’s Son,” the 59-year-old justice discussed his reticence on the bench on several occasions.

The questions may be helpful to the others, Thomas said, but not to him.

“One thing I’ve demonstrated often in 16 years is you can do this job without asking a single question,” he told an adoring crowd at the Federalist Society, a conservative legal group.

The book tour showed that the topic comes up even among friendly audiences.

Indeed, Thomas’ comment was provoked by this question: Why do your colleagues ask so many questions?

His response: “I did not plant that question. That’s a fine question. When you figure out the answer, you let me know,” he said.

Thomas understands the nature of his work. He knows full well that the Supreme Court overreached its Constitutional authority back when it was run by Communists like Earl Warren and Thurgood Marshall, its overreach gaining unprecedented levels of anti-American totalitarianism at the ideological behest of worthless Trotskyite Micks like Brennan. Thomas, and Chief Justice Roberts, are doing their part to limit the Court’s role to its historic function: settling Constitutional disputes between the Legislature and the Executive, and correcting the overreach of lower Court that overlook the original intent of the Framers of the Constitution.

You know what makes anti-Thomas smear jobs like this one evern more ridiculous? Thomas has friends on the Left side of the Court who agree with him.

The typical hourlong argument session can sometimes be difficult, even for a practiced questioner.

“I really would like to hear what those reasons are without interruption from all of my colleagues,” Justice John Paul Stevens said at an argument in the fall.

Even a treefrog like Stevens wishes the Court would shut up and get to work. Why doesn’t he get a nasty article about him? Because the media agrees with his politics, that’s why.

In the past, the Georgia-born Thomas has chalked up his silence to his struggle as a teenager to master standard English after having grown up speaking Geechee, a kind of dialect that thrived among former slaves on the islands off the South Carolina, Georgia and Florida coasts.

He also has said he will ask a pertinent question if his colleagues don’t but sees no need to engage in the back-and-forth just to hear his own voice.

Lately, he has focused on the latter reason.

“If I think a question will help me decide a case, then I’ll ask that question,” he told C-SPAN’s Brian Lamb in October. “Otherwise, it’s not worth asking because it detracts from my job.”

He talked in that same interview about descriptions of him as the silent justice.

The racists are giving Thomas trouble because, despite the fact that he didn’t grow up in an English-speaking household, he’s trying to master English as a second language. I’ll take that over your English-refusing illegal alien any day; but to some in this country, foreigners who refuse to speak any language but the hodge-podge gobbledygook Satan taught their ancestors should receive more rights in this country than a hero like Thomas. Liberals are kooks; what do you expect?

Suppose surgeons started discussing the merits of removing a gallbladder while in the operating room, Thomas said, as quoted by U.S. News & World Report. “You really didn’t go in there to have a debate about gallbladder surgery,” he said. Similarly, “we are there to decide cases, not to engage in seminar discussions.”

Exactly. Shut up and do your job, Court. Nobody’s paying you to gesture emptily and hear yourselves think. We want speedy opinions pulling the law back in line with the Original intent, not a bunch of talky-talky Communists spewing Marxist vomit all over our hallowed documents and traditions. Thomas, like Scalia, Alito, and Roberts, is a true American hero for understanding all this. The media can crucify him for it, but he’ll continue to endure for many a year yet.

Please keep our America-loving Justices hale and healthy, Lord, and smite our infanticide-loving enemies with plagues during Republican Administrations.

The Statue of Liberty Must Be Destroyed

I know this is a controversial topic, but I feel it must be raised. The Statue of “Liberty” has many adherents, including otherwise-patriotic and Christian Republican Americans. It is with the deepest respect for the feelings and sensibilities of these individuals that I proceed with this admonition.

The Statue of “Liberty” does not, in point of fact, represent liberty. It represents Jacobinism, license, and the riotous murder that marked both the French Revolution and the tumultuous riots that marred 19th-century New York City. Even a cursory glance at the historical background of this Trojan Horse of a “gift” from the Atheist secularist French shows an atmosphere of nascent Bolshevism and covert anti-Christianity:

The Statue of Liberty was a gift from France to the United States. Arriving at the entrance of New York harbor on June 17th, 1884, the Statue of Liberty has proudly stayed there ever since. The statue stands nearly 150 feet tall and is a woman with her arm held high with a lit torch. In her other hand she is clutching a book.

In 1903 an inscription was added on the inside which reads, in part:

Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!

This poem is often selectively quoted out of context by those seeking to justify more immigration into the United States, when in fact the Statue of Liberty has nothing to do with immigration.

This French idol was sent to America to justify the unrestricted introduction of innumerable anarchists and Bolshevists from Eastern and Southern Europe into our great nation. It is still used to justify the admission of Leftists from Latin America and elsewhere.

Don’t be fooled by French propoganda on the subject. This statue commemorates their Godless revolution, not our Christian one. Significantly, it did not arrive in America until 1885, which is as close to the centennial of the French Revolution as French Socialists could make it without denigrating their own ceremonies celebrating the mass decapitation of Catholic priests and the expropriation of sovereign property by surly proletarian archaeo-Marxists.

Leaving aside the fact that this idol is French, a rallying point for leftist pro-immigrationism, and a closeted torch-bearer for the international Communist insurgency, there are more important reasons why America must cast this image down from amongst us. The Statue is flagrantly a graven image. Anyone who’s ever read the Bible knows what it says about the worship of such false idols:

The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therin: for it is an abomination to the LORD thy God. Deuteronomy 7:25

And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place. Deuteronomy 12:3

For they provoked Him to anger with their high places, and moved Him to jealousy with their graven images. Psalms 78:58

Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boast themselves of idols: worship Him, all ye gods. Psalm 97:7

Ye shall defile also the covering of thy graven images of silver, and the ornament of thy molten images of gold: thou shalt cast them away as a menstruous cloth; thou shalt say unto it, Get thee hence. Isaiah 30:22

I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. Isaiah 42:8

They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say to the molten images, Ye are our gods. Isaiah 42:17

Therefore, behold, the days come, that I will do judgment upon the graven images of Babylon: and her whole land shall be confounded, and all her slain shall fall in the midst of her. Jeremiah 51:47

And lest we forget, the use of graven images in Pagan religious practices also violates two of the Ten Commandments:

“And God spoke all these words, saying: ‘I am the LORD your God…

ONE: ‘You shall have no other gods before Me.’

TWO: ‘You shall not make for yourself a carved image–any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.’”

The Statue is such a graven image. As proof, one need merely look at the New York state license plate. The Statue is very prominently displayed on this license plate, as befits a state renowned for Godlessness, savagery, Marxism, Atheism, and sexual deviancy. Conspicuously absent from this license plate is any depiction of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, Whose agonies on the Cross washed away the sins of the world and gave us hope in Salvation. Yes, there’s no room for any depiction of the True Religion on the New York license plate, but there is room for a Bolshevist French harlot clad in nothing but a bedsheet, brandishing a firebrand and a copy of some book that may well be either the “Communist Manifesto” or “Origin of the Species,” calling all evildoers to come to America and worship her as their false god. Yes, very little about this license plate is surprising, I am saddened to say.

Hopefully, President Huckabee or President Brownback will put aside the outcry of the dim-witted and idly sinful among patriotic Americans, as well as outright silencing the inevitable uproar from Marxist, secularist, Darwinist, Helioleftist, and immigrationist circles. Hopefully, either one of those men will show the strength of character and moral vision to cast down this disgusting monument to human iniquity. Cast down the Statue, that God may yet forgive our nation for its many sins and travesties.

True leadership means not having to apologize when you are right, just as you must humbly admit it when you are wrong. I hope our next Republican President remembers that, and demolishes this evil edifice once and for all.

Mitt Romney: Anchor Baby?

I like irony. Tom Tancredo’s endorsement of Mitt Romney took many by surprise. But the surprise became astonishment when it was revealed that Mitt Romney’s father came to America across the Mexican border. For some reason The Tanc didn’t seem to mind. Hypocritical? You be the judge.

Tom Tancredo, the only candidate for president from either party to declare himself in opposition to legal immigration, and to have a specific aversion to Mexican immigration, dropped out of the presidential race last week. Then he did something quite odd – he endorsed Mitt Romney, the only candidate whose father was born in Mexico and whose family made use of the porous border to immigrate between Mexico and the United States.

Ouch. Most people probably don’t even know about this. And why was the Romney family kicking it in Mexico? Polygamy. Nice.

Mitt Romney’s father George was born in Chihuahua, Mexico in 1907, the son of Gaskell Romney and Anna Amelia Pratt. Three generations of Romneys lived in Mexico because Miles Park Romney, a polygamist, moved the family there in 1884 as it became increasingly clear that the U.S. government would not tolerate polygamy in the Utah Territory. The 1882 Edmunds Act stripped polygamists of the basic rights of U.S. citizenship, denying them the right to vote, serve on juries or hold office. Not dissimilar to current immigration raids, U.S. federal agents hunted and arrested polygamists. Polygamists were forced to leave the country or risk jail.

Lawbreakers. It turns out that polygamy was not legal in Mexico either, so “Miles Romney then knowingly arrived in direct violation of Mexican immigration law.”

Aren’t these the kind of people Tancredo dislikes with intensity?

Relative Junius Romney negotiated with rebel leaders to get women and children out of the colony for their safety. Anna, with Mitt’s father George in tow, fled across the U.S. border by train (with no apparent delay or search at the border). A short time later Gaskell, like many Mexican immigrants before and since, covered hundreds of miles under a hot sun, crossing by land into New Mexico.

Hypocrisy knows no bounds. The more one finds out about Mitt Romney, the less there is to like.

Update: I should have noted that the source, Think Progress, is a left slanted smear site, and although it may be accurate on occasion, it’s best to be cautious taking articles there at their word.  A grain of salt is always good to include in the mix.  That’s precisely why I said “You be the judge.”  Commenter TLB pointed out this comment over at an alternet reprint of the original article:

Per this: It is the consensus of scholars, however, that foreign born children of Americans are natural born citizens. And that would mean that [George Romney] and McCain would certainly qualify.

Thus, calling George Romney an “immigrant” is false. And, for that reason and others, most of the post has nothing to do with Mitt Romney. He’s the one who’s running for president, not his late father.

Tom the Tanc Thanks and Tanks Out

As B4C reported last night, the end was near. Now it’s official: Tom Tancredo has dropped out of the race. He will be remembered (or not) for bringing the issue of illegal immigration to the forefront, as far as the GOP Presidential campaign was concerned. But his single note candidacy never really caught on, since his rivals adopted his rabid anti-illegal stance, leaving little to differentiate himself from the rest of the pack.

Two months ago, on October 28, 2007, The Tanc announced that he would not be seeking re-election for his congressional seat (Colorado’s 4th District), so his failed Presidential bid is Tancredo’s swan song. His legacy will be written by, or ignored by, historians. The Tanc is, literally, history.

According to the firecracker of the web, Michelle Malkin, Tom Tancredo declared victory before ending his campaign in a blaze of irrelevance.

“The Tancredo campaign has already won.”

What else can I say, but “good.” Take Hunter (who I do respect), Cox, Keyes and Paul with you. None of you have a ghost of a chance.

Update: What else can I say? “Good riddance.” This non-entity endorsed Mittens. If you have nothing wise to say, Tommy, just shut up. Good riddance to bad rubbish. Sell out. Traitor.

Tancredo’s Tanc Runs on Hot Air?

Well this comes from Max Blumenthal, so I’m not sure if it’s for real, but if true, it’s pretty darn shocking. But before we get to the bombshell, how about a little background?

Congressman Tom Tancredo from Colorado is largely responsible for bringing “illegal immigration” to the forefront. It’s long been candidate Tancredo’s signature issue. In the recent CNN/YouTube debate, The Tanc, as his admirers call him, bragged that the other candidates were trying to out-Tancredo Tancredo, since they too were talking tough about those evil wetbacks. Considering that he had the least amount of time to speak in the debate, his bragging was a little out of place. Stick a fork in Tom, because he’s done. Actually, he’s over done.

In the climate created by Tancredo, G-d’s own candidate Sam Brownback was widely mocked as “Senator Switchback” for voting in favor of the comprehensive immigration bill supported by President Bush and then changing his yea vote to nay. It was Sam’s clever way of making the nuanced statement that, yes, we do need immigration reform, but not the incarnation that was being voted on that day. And it was obvious to anyone who was paying attention that the bill would have failed anyway.

But the reality didn’t matter. The braindead knuckle-dragging slogan chanters, unable to understand Sam’s symbolic move, idiotically screamed “Shamnesty, Shamnesty” and the damage was done. The only true principled, conservative Republican running for President was savagely stabbed in the back by those within his own party. Eventually Senator Brownback was forced to concede defeat, nobly, and drop out of the race. It had all the makings of a Shakespearean tragedy.

Fast forward to the present and dial H for hypocrisy. It turns out the man who yelled the loudest for closing the borders, rejecting all future immigration, and in favor of the massive deportation of millions of undocumented workers…wait for it…employed dirty, smelly, dangerous, American job stealing illegals himself! Can you taste the hypocrisy? I can. I’m literally choking on it.

Open Immigration Thread

Long-time commenter Marcia P. recently sent me this email:

Dear Sisyphus,

As you know, I very much enjoy reading your blog. I don’t get to comment on there very often, as my arthritis makes typing difficult. But I think it’s high time you addressed the immigration issue.

The other day, Ralph and I were in Sam’s Club, and it seemed like half the people working there were Hispanic. Most of them didn’t speak English, and more than one of them was incredibly rude. We left without making a purchase, and will not be returning. We will not pay the annual fee to enter a store that lets foreigners make fun of us.

I disagree with Senator Brownback on this point. He wants to let the illegals come in and take our jobs. I want to kill these people, chop their hands off, and send them home to their families as a warning to the rest of them. Our country is under attack by these people, and it needs to respond in kind.

I recently read that the Democrat candidates all oppose giving driver licenses to illegals. That makes sense to me, as far as it goes. But like most Democrat measures, it doesn’t go far enough. I agree with the Democrats on this one, but I don’t think Sam Brownback does.

Brownback doesn’t understand that this is a good way to kill the thieves off peacefully. Illegals mostly drive around other illegals anyway. They can’t afford to live around real Americans, not for the pennies they make stealing our jobs. Let them kill one another. What do I care if some Latinos die? At least my tax dollars didn’t go toward financing their illicit driving on roads my tax dollars also paid for.

We should build a wall with painted-on gates at the border, then let the Mexicans crash into it when they try to leave America with the money they stole from hard-working Americans. I think not letting them have drivers’ licenses would facilitate this endeavour. Most of them are too stupid and ignorant to notice a painted fence; as for the ones that outsmart the fence, that’s what the dogs are for.

Marcia, President Brownback will not coddle illegals as much as you seem to think he will. Check out his position on the issue. But there’s a difference between not coddling people and not killing them. Remember, most of the Hispanics are decent Catholic conservatives. As such, we should treat them like human beings. They’re not dogs for you to shoot in the street, you know.

I usually agree with you on the issues, Marcia, but in my opinion you’re being a little unreasonable here. Killing millions of illegal immigrants will not make our country any better off. Far from it. In fact, your letter struck me as somewhat (and I hope I’m being off-base, here) racist. Just because someone has brown skin doesn’t mean we should kill them. I got the impression from your letter that maybe you don’t agree with me here. I should point out to you, though, that the only support you’re likely to get for that position around here is from Spacebrother’s candidate, Ron Paul.

Send Castro to Gitmo!

Castro is at it again, threatening our President with his thuggish language and defiant tyranny:

Ethanol endangers the world. Sure. Right.

The man belongs in a straitjacket. He’s been bent on destroying the world since 1959. Why he hasn’t been killed by his own people yet is beyond me. Luckily, America now has a prison fit for tyrants and terrorists of his ilk. It’s also close to home, for Fidel.

Everyone in Cuba is pretty sick of Castro and his antics by now. Most of them have chafed under his tranny this entire time. The man who accuses our beloved President of trying to start World War II was, himself, the man who helped Kruschev shake a pointy nuclear stick at us for those terrible weeks in 1962 when Kennedy’s weakness was put on display for all.

It’s not as if Cuba has the ability to resist us. Send an ambulance of men with nets and tranquilizers to Castro’s house, nab him, and drive him back to the nuthouse prison in Guantanamo. It’s the best thing for him, and the best thing for the rest of us.

Outrage in Blue State “America”

These leftard judges are capable of anything:

A man accused of raping and repeatedly molesting a 7-year-old girl is no longer facing charges because the court took too long to find an interpreter fluent in his native West African language.

Police in Montgomery County arrested Mahamu Kanneh, a Liberian immigrant living in Gaithersburg, three years ago. Prosecutors at first maintained Kanneh could understand the proceedings without translation into Vai, his native language. They pointed out that Kanneh attended high school and community college in Montgomery and spoke to detectives in English.

A court-appointed psychiatrist recommended an interpreter be appointed, and judges who handled subsequent hearings heeded that advice. But officials could not find a competent interpreter of Vai who would stay.

Montgomery County Circuit Judge Katherine D. Savage dismissed the case last week, saying the delays had violated Kanneh’s right to a speedy trial.

Disgusting. They ought to be dismissing this case by shooting the man behind the courthouse, not letting him go free to molest other children. The judge, in true craven, cowardly moonbat style, sheds crocodile tears for the man’s future victims:

“This is one of the most difficult decisions I’ve had to make in a long time,” Savage said from the bench Tuesday. She said she was mindful of “the gravity of this case and the community’s concern about offenses of this type.”

That’s nice to know, moron. It’s nice to know that you’re aware that people in the community don’t like having their children molested by the degenerate perverts you set free from jail. I bet this guy doesn’t live in your neighborhood, though, judge. It won’t be your children he picks up.

This is the kind of thing that happens in liberal America. These are the kinds of sub-moronic droolers elected to the judicial bench in leftist areas. That community will be outraged at this idiot judge, but thye’re partially responsible. Either they voted for her, or they voted for the leftist politicians who appointed her.

This sends a powerful message to non-English speaking perverts the world over, though: come to Maryland, do whatever you want. When the judge finds out you don’t speak English, you’re free to go. You can molest someone else in the parking lot, if you want. They can’t touch you, because no one apparently knows how to tell you “You’re free to go, Mr. Pervert, welcome to Leftard America” in your own language. Who knew that freedom to molest children was now a Constitutional right of all non-English speakers?

When President Brownback is inaugurated, this little girl and her family will have justice. Swine like this pervert won’t even make it out of the courthouse alive. And judges like this will be stripped of their robes and thrown out into the streets.

Canada, Land of Militant Female Sodomy

Astute reader Johnny Rotten sent me this email:

I see that your recent post highlights French Harlots on their anniversary of Bastille (Jail break) day. While getting lunch it inspired me to remember to order my freedom fries correctly and to take a look for news of the continuing moral degradation occurring in foreign lands.

At least we have the benefit of a ocean separating us from these French influences. I would like to draw your attention to a much nearer and dearer problem. Breathing down our necks is the liberal haven of Canada, home to French Canadians amongst others and their unrestrained secular progressive ways. And there is very little that has been done to prevent them from slipping their vile practices here across the unsecured border.

I am sure you have heard of the scourge of militant lesbian gangs plaguing our fair cities this summer.

Even Bill O’Reilly has recently taken a stand against these GTO (Girls/gays Taking Over) gangs. It used to be that you could shield your children from such perversity, but today not even America’s favorite pastime , Baseball, is safe.

Could you imagine the horror of taking your family to the recent combined Gay day/ Hat day game in San Diego and discovering too late that you had
fallen into the crack of Sodom rather then settling in for the wholesome crack of rawhide on wood bats?

Some liberal denier gay activist groups, no doubt funded by the Radical Left’s powerful lobby machine, have tried to tell us to stick our heads in the sand and ignore the lesbian gangs running amuck in our midst. Preying upon, even raping our teenagers.

Close your ears to such claptrap. Upstanding citizens know better the truth.

The question we need to focus upon is where do our young women get such ideas to form these gangs? Well I have seen it with my own eyes and it is not pretty.

Let me testify that this lesbian brutality pales in comparison to what supposedly respectable Canadian Convenience Store Companies sanction daily in there advertisements. And targeted for ’squishy’ type drinks consumed by eager innocent children on every corner across the land.

If this example is not blasphemous enough, the brutal perversity of these militant lesbian harlots in this ad is not for the feint of heart.

It is truly frightening that lurking just across our northern border we have such naked anger directed at the entire male population . Hopefully when Senator Brownback is elected to high office, for our young women’s own good, he can chain the borders with steel and throw away the key. Putting a stop to the wide spread of such deviate ideas. And barring those who would promote lesbianism from penetrating our borders and corrupting our fairer sex. We must not allow the teeming hordes of illegal French Canadian aliens to import their foreign licentious profligate ways. The damage they have done to our country so far is enough.

Anything I could add to this astounding epistle would only be redundant. Mr. Rotten says it all. Militant lesbians have crushed freedom in Canada, and they’ve set their sites on America next. LONDON, England (AP) — Female genital mutilation, commonly associated with parts of Africa and the Middle East, is becoming a growing problem in Britain despite authorities’ efforts to stamp it out.

I enjoy learning about other cultures, and enjoy many of the gifts that those cultures bring — music, art, food, architecture, literature. However, to criticize any aspect of another culture often provokes accusations of ethnocentrism, if not downright racism, from many on the left, who seem to behave as though the only culture with flaws is our own.

We can appreciate that which is good about African and Middle Eastern cultures, and still decry female genital mutilation (FGM) as a barbaric, backwards practice. This practice is an affront to women, and is an affront to our Creator. To take a helpless child and to disfigure her body is horrible, and though I would not presume to know the mind of God, I cannot help but think that it must be a grave sin.

Female genital mutilation usually involves the removal of the clitoris and other parts of female genitalia. Those who practice it say it tames a girl’s sexual desire and maintains her honor.

Horsefeathers. Teaching girls respect for themselves, their families, and their God is what maintains her honor. Honor is in the brain and the heart, not in the genitals. If a girl has sin in her heart, then it matters not what is between her legs. This practice is not only barbaric, backward, and horrible, but it is based on false assumptions and does nothing to actually teach girls and women to behave honorably and with virtue.

It is practiced by Muslims and Christians alike, deeply rooted in the Nile Valley region and parts of sub-Saharan African, and is also done in Yemen and Oman. Through migration, the practice has spread to Western countries like Britain.

Between 100 million and 140 million women are believed to have been subjected to the practice in Africa and an additional 3 million girls face the threat of female genital mutilation every year, according to UNICEF

The thought that any of my fellow Christians would do this to a young girl saddens me deeply. I would urge everybody here to contact their religious and political leaders, to ask them to bring this problem to the forefront. If the world’s religious leaders and political leaders can unite in speaking out against this atrocity, we might be able to relegate FGM to the history books, and show those subsets of African and Middle Eastern culture that a woman’s honor and virtue can be controlled by her own mind and heart, and that they do not need to be instilled by force.

America to Moonbats: Go Away, You Smell

More and more decent Americans are moving away [Breitbart] from the staggering cesspool of liberalism that is the old Northeast:

The nation’s population has nearly doubled since 1950 — adding about 150 million people. But of the 20 largest cities at mid-century, all but four have shrunk, some by a lot.

Detroit, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, St. Louis and Buffalo, N.Y., have all lost more than half their population in the past half-century.

Philadelphia lost nearly a third of its residents, slipping to about 1.4 million people in 2006, according to estimates being released Thursday by the Census Bureau.

The Democrat electoral heartland is hemorrhaging votes, and the Democrat Party continues its descent into political oblivion. Meanwhile, more and more decent Americans move to the states that have climates blessed by God and populations that keep God in their hearts and Republican Party membership cards in their wallets.

Americans hate Democrats. It really is as simple as that. And the population data proves it. And Brownback’s electoral victory in 2008 will be a profound wake-up call to all the naysayers and treefrogs.

No More Immigration!

Looks like the bill failed:

A broad immigration bill to legalize millions of people unlawfully in the United States failed a crucial test vote in the Senate Thursday, a stunning setback that could spell its defeat for the year.

The vote was 45-50 against limiting debate on the bill, 15 short of the 60 that the bill’s supporters needed to prevail. Most Republicans voted to block Democrats’ efforts to bring the bill to a final vote.

The legislation, which had been endorsed by President Bush, would tighten borders, institute a new system to prevent employers from hiring undocumented workers and give as many as 12 million illegal immigrants a pathway to legal status.

Senate Majority Harry Reid, D-Nevada, who had made no secret of his distaste for parts of the bill, said he would withdraw it but keep working toward eventual passage

My reaction mirrors that of Senator Brownback:

As you are probably aware by now, the Senate held a critical cloture vote on the immigration bill today, which did not pass. Senator Brownback voted against this cloture motion. In a highly unusual maneuver, Senator Reid invoked a highly unusual Senatorial procedural tactic and moved for a reconsideration of the original cloture motion outside the regularly scheduled order of business. Senator Brownback was not able to be present for this vote, but since cloture votes require 60 “yea” votes regardless of the number of “nays,” his absence counted effectively as a “nay.” Had Senator Brownback been present, he would have voted “nay” again.

“Highly unusual,” however, has accurately described the entire process by which this bill has been brought through the Senate. The drafting of the bill was conducted in secret, and completely bypassed the Senate Judiciary Committee. The amendment process has similarly been a nightmare – with the Democrats ostensibly blocking amendments in the name of “keeping the compromise together,” but then offering their own which were clearly unpalatable to the Republican allies of the bill. For instance, the Dorgan Amendment that passed last night sunset the temporary guest worker provision after five years, thus entirely eliminating the “comprehensive” aspect of the bill and virtually guaranteeing that many of the current circumstances giving rise to illegal immigration would arise again in half a decade. This amendment was the final straw for Senator Brownback and many of the Republican sponsors who had been attempting to craft a defensible immigration bill.

As Senator Brownback said during the debate Tuesday night, any acceptable immigration bill had to do three things: (1) Secure the border, and (2) effectively provide for interior enforcement through a verifiable employer verification program, and (3) comprehensively address the illegal immigration program by providing for a workable and safe temporary guest worker program. The Dorgan Amendment turned the Immigration Bill into an ineffective non-solution.

The bill from the beginning has always represented a very tenuous compromise, and the existence of a continued compromise is more tenuous after today. The bill changes every day, and if the amendment process resumes, Senator Brownback is hopeful that the bill can be amended into a workable solution which he can support. Senator Brownback will support an immigration bill only if it addresses the three points listed above. He will not support any bill that provides Social Security benefits to illegal immigrants, and supports the fact that the bill as amended does not provide Social Security credits earned while performing work as an illegal immigrant. Senator Brownback remains committed also to securing our border with a fence, which he voted for in the 109th Congress, and which he hopes can go forwards regardless of the final resolution of the current Senate bill.

The moral of the story is, never trust a Democrat. A Democrat would just as soon stab you in the back with a rusty fork as look at you, which is what happened with this bill. The whole thing was a sham to divide the Republican caucus when they needed unity most. It succeeded, admirably. The Democrats have always excelled at betrayal.

Well, they’ll get their comeuppance yet. Millions of Hispanic voters will little appreciate being shuffled around as pawns in the Democrat game. We can have border security, political security, AND party unity now, thanks to the Democrats being a little too clever for their own good. And the will of God, which makes all things possible.

Adios, Tancredo

Looks like his campaign’s dying with a whimper, not a bang:

Rep. Tom Tancredo plans to change direction in his long-shot presidential campaign so he can pressure fellow Republicans into rejecting an immigration reform plan he considers “amnesty.”
Before a debate tonight on CNN, Tancredo, R-Littleton, told reporters he soon plans to scale back his weekly visits to the early caucus and primary states of Iowa and New Hampshire.

He’s going ahead with previously scheduled events, including a four-day trip to Iowa starting Thursday.

Republicans who are serious about sensible policy on illegal immigration should now flock to Brownback in droves. Tancredo’s isolationism is alluring, perhaps even attractive; Brownback’s position may seem undesirable at first, but upon closer inspection one learns that he alone has the heart to carry out coherent, comprehensive reform.

Many on the Right will disagree with me there, but they should realize this- if they’re not supportive of the President and Senator Brownback on this one, they’re RINOs, for their grievances only embolden our enemies, the Democrats, by driving Hispanic voters into their arms. Think about having a Clinton in office for 8 more years before you sit this election out just because of one issue.
