The teddy bear incident is an inevitable result of ignorant religious zeal and misplaced patriotism. It happens in every country in the world bar none. it leads to terrorism, bigotry, beheadings, misogyny, racism, war and exclusion. it is a good thing that the Sudanese government did finally see sense and realise the folly of their ways and how foolish they looked in the eyes of the global community.

Such naked religious zealotry and mass hysteria, the perverting of a faith into a narrow minded extremist "cult", as has been clearly illustrated by the sickening rallies on the streets of Khartoum, is by no means solely restricted to the Islamic faith. As we well know looking around this site.

it is time for all religious extremists, from Islam to Christianity, to look deep inside themselves and realise how inafantle their behaviour really is.

My expectations are, however, not that high!

"I assume you’re not married. If you were, you’d certainly understand."

We don't understand, Psycheout. Are you a wife-beater?

Are you actually treating your wife--your partner in life for better or for worse, who is faithful and caring to you, and does the lion's share of the housework--like your slave? Ever hear of the Emancipation Proclamation?

"What I propose we do is convince these fools that their God is on the moon, since after all, they WORSHIP it."

Um, no. Allah = Yahweh = The Holy Trinity. They worship the God of Abraham, just as we do. They just took longer to enter their "kill everyone who's not exactly like us" phase. Muslims do not worship the moon. Do some bloody research!!

Oh, and I love the flat-earth thing. People have known since ancient times that the world is round. If the earth were flat, we'd be able to see all the skyscrapers in the world, just by standing atop a high hill and looking in the right direction. If the earth were flat, things wouldn't disappear over the horizon. If the earth were flat, even geocentric theories would make no sense whatsoever.

If the earth is flat, why is it day in the Western Hemisphere at the same time that it is night in the Eastern Hemisphere? After all, if the earth were flat, with the sun traveling around it, wouldn't the sun be visible to everyone on the entire planet at the same time? But it isn't. Flat-earth theory was great for the ancient Egyptians, but it sounds really, really stupid coming from an alleged "Christian" who really should know better.

"And maybe shouldn’t you be letting your heretical god do the judging? Hmmm?"

Oh, the irony. It sickens and amuses at the same time. As I have said before, pay more attention to Matthew 6: 1-2.

Spacebrother, you're absolutely sick. There's more to life than war, you know.

Aside from the Darfur refugees, there is not a single person in Sudan worth saving. The fact that they would take away this woman's life just for allowing her class to name a teddy bear 'Muhammed' is just sick. Islam 'a religion of piece', huh? Not only is it false, I don't think they have contributed anything to any peace movement, or for that matter, anything important at all through history.

And now a British author of children's stories renames one of his characters, bowing down to the Islamofascists in a startling display of subservient dhimmitude. Better get those bhurkas and prayer rugs while you can.

See Update 2 for the details.

You know, I've agreed with psycheout twice now. (he better be careful, at this rate he may end up on our side) And this is one of them. When she was given the 15 day sentence I was very happy for her, she could sit it out then leave that hell hole. Then I see the news footage of people in the streets screaming for her execution, and I came very close to agreeing with the folks here that we should bomb the hell out of them.
But that would still be wrong. There are still innocent people there, thousands of them that don't agree with the mobs calling for her death. By bombing them we would be killing those people too. I argued that point with Lyssie earlier, because I believed we as a country should stay out of other country's internal affairs, and she believed we should do something about it.
Now, I'm a bit more inclined to agree with her. The people there are much worse off than I had realised, even the citizens call for her execution, rather than mercy. And for what? Letting children name a teddy bear. Lyssie is right, something needs to be done to help the innocents there. But what? Once again, I'm in agreement with Lyssie, I don't know, but something.

OK, Corkey has had his spotlight for awhile, let's get back to the topic at hand: Muslims making themselves look bad.
I agree with Psycheout so far as his outrage at how the Muslim world had reacted to what should have at most resulted in dismissal from a teacher's duties. They're reacting the way you'd expect from brainwashed, mindless followers. The controlling religion is irrelevant, what matters is how the people use it. When a people are used like this, it's unforgivable. Religious leaders need to show more compassion for whom they lead. like the Pope, Archbishop of Canterbury, Dali Lama, and so on, Muslim head priests should strive for peace and coexistence between religions, not oppression and counterproductive conservatism that borders on the xenophobic.

If anyone here has any evidence of this statement, I would like to see it, I believe the actual number would be closer to one tenth of one percent.
